Episode Summary
In this episode, Lao Yang and Tingting fight and threaten divorce but quickly make up after their friends intervene. Lao Yang's mother returns with a new boyfriend, which causes Lao Yang to become angry and suspicious. After a series of conversations and interventions from the family, especially the children, Lao Yang comes to understand his mother's loneliness and accepts her new relationship.

The Big "D" Word
This one kicks off with a major fight between Lao Yang and Tingting. It gets pretty heated. Tingting gets so mad she drops the word "divorce." Lao Yang, in the heat of the moment, actually agrees to it.
Of course, neither of them really wants to split up. They just needed to cool off. Lao Yang goes to vent to his friend, Liu Xiangshang. Dai Jing heads over to Tingting’s place to comfort her.
A Little Help From Their Friends
Liu Xiangshang tells Lao Yang to stop talking and just go home to apologize. Dai Jing reminds Tingting that Lao Yang’s only real priority is the kids. She tells Tingting that he genuinely supports her career. Dai Jing also reveals all the secret work Lao Yang did behind the scenes to help get her store running. This makes Tingting realize she might have been wrong.
Liu Xiangshang also gives Lao Yang some much-needed perspective. He reminds him what it was like taking care of the kids recently. He couldn't go out and was stuck at home all day. Tingting lived that life for years. Liu Xiangshang tells him he can't just think about things from his own point of view.
The advice sinks in. That night, Lao Yang goes home and apologizes to Tingting. She apologizes too. They both agree that from now on, they won't say such hurtful things when they argue. Just like that, they're good again.
Mom's New Boyfriend
Lao Yang's mom is back from her trip. She didn't come back alone, though. She brought a boyfriend with her. She's too scared to tell Lao Yang about him.
Tingting manages to get the secret out of her. She is totally supportive of the new relationship. Both women know exactly how Lao Yang is going to react. So, Tingting invites Liu Xiangshang's family over for dinner. The plan is to break the news then.
As predicted, Lao Yang is furious. This time, however, his mom isn't backing down. She decides her new boyfriend is coming over to the house. Tingting and Yang's mom ask Liu Xiangshang and Dai Jing to be there when he visits. They worry Lao Yang will cause a scene and need them there as backup.
Meet Lao Yuan
Liu Xiangshang tries to talk some sense into Lao Yang. He reminds him that his mom has been alone for a very long time. She finally found a companion in her old age. He tells Lao Yang not to be so extreme. But Lao Yang is stuck on one thing. He's worried this guy is just after their family's money.
Yang's mom brings her boyfriend, Lao Yuan, to the house. It turns out he's a retired traffic cop and an army veteran. He even won a major award for his service. He seems like a genuinely good person. Lao Yang's attitude is still terrible, though.
A Family Affair
Seeing the tension, Lao Yuan politely offers to leave. Yang's mom immediately starts packing a bag to go with him. Tingting tells Lao Yang to go talk to his mother. She sends the kids, Shiwu and Chu Yi, to go talk to Lao Yuan.
The kids learn his story. We find out he never married. The woman he once loved died, and he's been single ever since. He was lonely until he met their grandmother. He realized having a family and someone to care about is a happy thing. The two of them just clicked. Shiwu and Chu Yi both really like Lao Yuan. They tell him they support his relationship with their grandma.
Meanwhile, Lao Yang and his mom have a heart-to-heart talk. She admits she has been very lonely for many years. She knows Tingting is a good person, but she also knows they would clash if they lived together. That's why she always insisted on living by herself. But every day felt so long. Lao Yang finally understands his mother's feelings. He takes a step back. He says that as long as this man is truly good to his mom, he won't try to stop them.
Shiwu and Chu Yi bring Lao Yuan back to the house. Yang's mom comes downstairs, but Lao Yang is nowhere to be seen. His mom tells everyone he went to the kitchen. He's making his specialty dish, braised pork.
