The Kids Learn About Business
Alright, let's talk about this episode. The school sets up a social practice class. It’s basically a flea market where the kids sell their old junk. Everyone starts digging through their stuff at home to find things to sell.
Of course, Xiao Jiarui's mom has to be extra. She goes online and buys a brand-new, gold-rimmed plate for him to sell. She doesn't even bother to take the price tag off. Xiao Jiarui is pretty confused by this, but he just rolls with it.
The Hustlers and the Introverts
Liu Guoning gets put in a group with Da Bai and Sun Jiayu. He immediately starts looking for an angle. He wants to do more than just sell old toys. He thinks about buying new items at the market to flip for a profit. But there isn't enough time. So, he goes to his "master," Ma Yingjie. He finds something to sell and cons Ma Yingjie into a 60/40 profit split. Ma Yingjie doesn't realize he's been played until after Liu Guoning is long gone.
At the market, some groups are crushing it. Liu Guobao, Ma Ziheng, and Sun Jiaxin are naturals. They're great at talking to customers. They even perform magic tricks to draw a crowd and upsell their items.
Chu Yi's group is the complete opposite. The three girls are all very shy. They don't call out to anyone, so their table is a ghost town.
A Lesson in Customer Service
Finally, an old woman stops by Chu Yi's table. She buys something for 12 yuan. It's their first sale. But then she wanders over to Jiang Feihu's stall. She asks about the price of the same item and finds out she overpaid.
She storms back to Chu Yi's table and demands a full refund. Xu Mengyao and Jiang Feihu's mom see the commotion and start to step in. But Teacher Wang stops them. She tells them to wait and see if the kids can handle it themselves.
And Chu Yi does. She stands her ground. She tells the woman the item has no quality problems, so they won't give a full refund. Instead, she offers to give back the 2 yuan difference. The grandma keeps insisting on a full refund. Luckily, some passersby and the adult running the next stall step in to defend the kids. The grandma finally gives up and takes the 2 yuan. Xu Mengyao is impressed and tells Chu Yi she did a great job. Teacher Wang and the other moms are relieved and proud.
Later, Teacher Wang calls Tingting to tell her how well Chu Yi handled the situation. Tingting is ecstatic. She immediately calls Lao Yang and tells him to hurry home for a big celebration dinner.
A Surprising Sale
Liu Guoning's stall is dead. No one is buying anything. Then, the original owner of a model they're selling spots it. Ma Yingjie had repaired it, and it looks great. The owner is so impressed he buys it back for over 1,000 yuan. Sun Jiayu can't wrap his head around it. Why would someone buy back their own stuff for a much higher price? The buyer was just that impressed with the repair job. Liu Guoning gives him Ma Yingjie's contact information.
Trouble at Home
Things aren't going so well for Tang Xiaowei and Ma Yingjie.She's moving heavy boxes for her store and almost falls on the stairs. Dong Ke appears out of nowhere and catches her.
Ma Yingjie and his son, Ma Ziheng, see the whole thing. Ma Yingjie immediately gets sarcastic. Back at home, he and Tang Xiaowei get into a huge fight. Their relationship is on the rocks again. Tang Xiaowei tells him they both need to cool down. She says he's still immature. Even though he's trying, she's just tired.
