The Family Rallies
So, Dai Jing gets home. The whole family already knows she was laid off. But they all pretend they don't know a thing. It’s a silent agreement. Their goal is to make her feel needed, not useless.
Liu Guobao’s Taekwondo recital and ranking test are just around the corner. Liu Xiangshang and Liu Guoning step up. They promise to help out with the preparations. They make it clear that the family is a team. Everyone has a part to play. Dai Jing sees this and feels a real sense of relief. She’s genuinely happy.
Guobao's Big Fight
The day of the event arrives. Dai Jing is on site, managing the logistics. She does a great job. Everything runs smoothly for the recital and the test. Ma Ziheng and Chu Yi are there to cheer for Guobao. The recital part is perfect. Guobao nails her performance.
But then comes the actual sparring match. There’s a huge problem with the matchups. Guobao is put up against a boy who is way bigger and stronger than her. Liu Xiangshang sees this from the audience. He immediately says it's unfair. He wants to pull her from the match. The coach explains that Guobao has the option to switch opponents. She refuses. She wants to face the challenge.
The fight is brutal. The size difference is just too much. Guobao keeps getting knocked down. Liu Xiangshang can't watch anymore. He just gets up and walks out of the auditorium. Dai Jing and Liu Guoning stay. They keep cheering for Guobao. And Guobao is tough. Every time she gets knocked down, she gets right back up. She even lands a couple of solid hits on her opponent.
In the end, she loses the match. But she’s not upset. She says she's grateful for the experience. Then, in front of everyone, she gives a speech. She thanks her mom for all her hard work and tells her how much she loves her.
The Investment Scam Blows Up
A Dinner Table Confession
Later, the Liu family is having dinner. The two kids bring something up. They suggest that Dai Jing should just quit her job to spend more time with them. That’s when it clicks for Dai Jing. She realizes they know she was laid off. She asks a few questions and confirms her suspicion.
Liu Xiangshang tells her it’s okay. She can stay home if she wants. He says he can handle supporting the family. He then tells her about a new development. His boss, Mr. Zhu, offered to make him a partner at the firm. He admits he was afraid to say yes. He worried Dai Jing wouldn't approve. He also felt bad going back on his word to focus more on home life. Dai Jing tells him to take it. She is truly happy for his success.
Tang Xiaowei Gets Bad News
Remember that investment Gao Yuxuan's mom was pushing? Tang Xiaowei asked Ma Yingjie to look into it. The couple running the investment is from Tianjin. Ma Yingjie also happens to be from Tianjin. He comes back with some terrible news.
He tells Tang Xiaowei that the couple are well-known scammers. The factory they claimed to own actually belongs to their father. The two of them do nothing but live off their parents. This whole "original shares" investment is a complete fraud. A lot of people they know have already been tricked. Tang Xiaowei starts to panic. She already put her money in.
The Parents Panic
Tang Xiaowei tries to contact Gao Yuxuan's mom. There’s no answer. The other parents who invested find out. They are furious and filled with regret. Tang Xiaowei is worried she’ll lose her cool. She asks Dai Jing to go with her to meet the other moms.
Dai Jing is the only rational one in the group. She helps them analyze the situation. She goes with Gao Feihu's mom to file a police report. Tang Xiaowei and the other parents go to the school to find the family. They discover that the entire Gao family has vanished. The kids and Gao Yuxuan's father have all taken leave from school and work.
Desperate, Xiao Jiarui's mom posts a message in the parent group chat. She asks where Gao Yuxuan's mom is. It works. Gao Yuxuan's mom finally responds. She claims she is in Tianjin trying to sort everything out. She promises to explain everything when she gets back.
A Desperate Plea
Gao Yuxuan's mom agrees to meet the other parents. But she is terrified. She calls Dai Jing and begs her to come to the meeting. She says she trusts Dai Jing to be fair and level-headed. At first, Dai Jing says no. This isn't her problem. But Gao Yuxuan's mom breaks down, crying and pleading. Dai Jing eventually gives in and agrees to go.
