Episode Summary
This episode saw Xian Biyun escape a trap thanks to Ding Yi, who has now officially been brought into her organization. The search for the agent "White Night" zeroes in on a new clue: a severe stomach condition. This puts several characters under suspicion, but Xian Biyun's clever visit to Yi Aida suggests she has found her primary target, just as Liang Jingyuan prepares his own trap using the same medical information.

Ding Yi's Clever Rescue
Xian Biyun gets out of that mess at the stock exchange. Ding Yi is the one who helps her pull it off. It turns out he's smarter than he sometimes lets on. He saw a note in Liang Jingyuan's office that morning. The note was about the stock exchange. He put two and two together and guessed she was walking into a trap.
He even used her perfume to help her escape. Apparently, he remembered the scent she wears. He told her it helped calm down a police dog that was about to give her away. A pretty smooth move.
The Hunt for "White Night"
Xian Biyun's mission to meet "White Night" at the exchange was a total failure. She came up empty. But her side gets a new lead from a different direction.
A New Medical Clue
Luo Han does some digging. He finds a patriotic actress named Lin Changying. She's in the same film crew as Xian Biyun. This just confirms that Xian Biyun is definitely not just an actress.
Back with Xian Biyun's contacts, Old Owl has an idea. He found out that White Night has a severe stomach condition. He suggests they can find the agent by looking for someone who needs specific medicine.
Liang Jingyuan's Desperation
Liang Jingyuan is furious he didn't catch White Night. He tries to report to his boss, Sasaki, but Sasaki won't even see him. That’s a bad sign.
Later, he complains to Ye Yin. He says he needs to use White Night to catch a bigger target. It's the only way he can secure his own position in this whole power game. He's feeling the pressure.
Shifting Loyalties
The lines are getting blurrier. People are starting to choose sides, and it’s causing problems.
Ding Yi Gets In
Gu Yangshan gets home and immediately asks Ding Yi where he was all afternoon. Ding Yi is evasive. He clearly doesn't want to answer. Before Gu Yangshan can press him, Xian Biyun shows up and pulls Ding Yi away. Perfect timing.
She tells Ding Yi that she's been watching him. He passed her tests. She has officially recommended him to join their organization. Ding Yi is ecstatic. He's finally in. She then tells him about the failed mission and asks for his help. She needs him to find out who in their circle has a bad stomach.
Gu Yangshan's Suspicions
Liang Jingyuan tells Gu Yangshan that Ding Yi went to the stock exchange without permission. Gu Yangshan is angry. He confronts Ding Yi about it. He wants to know why he and Xian Biyun were there.
Ding Yi lies to protect the mission. Gu Yangshan sees right through it. He realizes Ding Yi's loyalty is now with Xian Biyun.
The Net Tightens
Liang Jingyuan isn't giving up. He starts investigating everyone, and Xian Biyun starts her own quiet investigation.
Alibis and Lies
Liang Jingyuan calls in everyone who left the San Yang Li area that afternoon. The list is surprisingly long. It includes Director Shen and Yi Aida. Yi Aida is a problem because she left with Liang Jingyuan but then disappeared.
Joseph Needham and Xian Biyun have an alibi. Liang Jingyuan himself can confirm they were at the stock exchange. He questions Charlie about where he went. Charlie lies and says he was buying pastries for Joseph Needham. He gets away with it for now.
A Game of Chess
Xian Biyun makes a smart play. She complains loudly in front of Ye Yin. She pretends to be mad that Liang Jingyuan thought she was a communist when she was just trying to buy stocks.
Later, she uses this as an excuse to visit Yi Aida, who missed a card game because she was "sick." Ye Yin had mentioned being jealous of how close Yi Aida is to Liang Jingyuan. Xian Biyun brings medicine as a pretense. In Yi Aida's home, she notices a chess game on a table. She also learns Yi Aida used to live in the same region as another operative. This makes her very suspicious.
Before leaving, Xian Biyun walks over to the chessboard. She makes a single, brilliant move. It completely changes the state of the game. The look on Yi Aida's face says it all. She's shocked. Xian Biyun may have just found her target.
As a final move, she quietly asks Ding Yi to investigate if Yi Aida has a stomach condition. At the same time, Liang Jingyuan tells Ye Yin his plan is working. He's going to use stomach medicine as bait to lure out White Night. The episode ends with a notice for a mandatory physical exam. We see Yi Aida in the bathroom, trying to hide her stomach pain, when Joseph Needham walks in on her.
