The episode kicks off with Kwong Shan Tsuen walking into the office with egg tarts for everyone. She's practically glowing. She is absolutely sure that Lin Cheng is about to be voted out of the company. But then Jiaxin makes her own grand entrance. She brings an even bigger spread of snacks and is dressed to the nines in expensive jewelry. It's a petty, passive-aggressive war fought with pastries and pearls right in the breakroom.
Meanwhile, the big board meeting is about to start. The main event is the vote on whether to make Lin Cheng the company's vice-chairman. Kwong Wai Leung is smug. He's certain the vote will fail. He had invited all the board members to a fancy dinner the night before, and nobody showed up. He takes this as a sign that Lin Cheng has zero support. Fang Xueli and Fang Xueqin agree. They try to convince their father, Fang Yangtian, to just cancel the whole thing. They even tell Lin Cheng to give up. She refuses and says she's more than capable of doing the job.
Fang Yangtian's Power Play
This is where you see Fang Yangtian is on another level. He cleverly sends Lin Cheng out of the room. Then, he lays down the law to the board members. He presents them with a simple offer. When the family matriarch, Old Mrs. Fang, gets wind of what happened, she loses it. She goes straight to the media. She announces that she is suing her own son, Fang Yangtian, to have him removed as the executor of the family trust. This news is like a bomb going off. Reporters immediately swarm every member of the Fang family, desperate for any inside scoop.
Jiaxin's PR Nightmare
Jiaxin gets cornered by reporters while visiting her parents at their restaurant. She tries to look calm and collected. She gives a very prim statement about how she won't comment on Lin Cheng, trying to paint herself in a positive light. The next day, however, her plan completely backfires. Jiaxin had tried to look like a sympathetic victim. But a gossip reporter noticed her incredibly expensive handbag and diamond jewelry. The story flips. Suddenly, online commenters are attacking the Fang children for their lavish spending. People start to say they understand why Fang Yangtian put a trust in place to control their finances.

Jiaxin is furious about the bad press. She storms over to Lin Cheng's place and accuses her of planting the story. To prove her innocence, Lin Cheng hands her phone over for inspection. Kwong Shan Tsuen does some digging. She discovers that Gao Shen hired online trolls to smear her name. She confronts him, but he doesn't back down. He threatens to expose secrets about a children's home to get revenge for her cheating on him years ago. She panics and begs him to leave the kids out of it, saying one girl there is very important to her. Fang Xueli happens to see this intimate moment. He assumes they are getting back together and gets into a huge fight with Gao Shen.
The Fang Family Implodes
A Broken Nose and a Broken Heart
The family drama causes problems for everyone. Fang Ziyin's boyfriend dumps her. His family are all lawyers, and they can't be associated with the Fangs' public scandal. Jiaxin gets into a physical fight with Zhijun, and her nose gets knocked crooked. She rushes to a private clinic to get it fixed. The doctor recognizes her and blackmails her. He threatens to expose all the things she's done to marry into a rich family unless she pays him a huge sum. She has no choice but to pay for his silence.
The Final Straw
Fang Ziyin goes to her father and begs him to cancel the trust so her grandmother will drop the lawsuit. Fang Yangtian refuses. He is not backing down. This makes Ziyin think Lin Cheng is the one pulling the strings and manipulating her father. As if things weren't bad enough, all the "Dai Kam" masters at the company decide to resign at once. The stress is too much for Fang Yangtian. He gets so angry that he faints.
