Episode Summary

An Offer You Should Refuse
The episode kicks off with Lin Cheng working late. Fang Yangtian calls and offers to send a driver for her. She says no, thinking a taxi will be faster. This was a bad call.
While she's waiting, Kwong Shan Tsuen just happens to drive by. She offers Lin Cheng a ride home. There's a weird look in her eye, but Lin Cheng is tired. She gets in the car.
Mountain Showdown
Kwong Shan Tsuen is not okay. She's been fighting with Fang Xueli. She blames Lin Cheng for all her problems. You can see her gripping the steering wheel, just furious. She starts driving, but she's not going toward Lin Cheng's house. She drives straight up a mountain.
When they get to the deserted summit, she slams on the brakes. She turns to Lin Cheng, full of hate. She accuses Lin Cheng of being a greedy gold-digger. Then, she just hauls off and slaps her right across the face. She doesn't stop there. She drags a terrified Lin Cheng out of the car and leaves her stranded on the mountain.
The Long Walk Home
From Bad to Worse
So, Lin Cheng is alone on a mountain in the middle of the night. She pulls out her phone to call for help. Of course, there's no signal. As she's panicking, she twists her ankle. The pain makes her drop her phone, and it shatters on the ground. She has no choice but to start walking home, injured and completely defeated.
A Quiet Return
Back at the house, Jiang Huanqiu is worried sick. She knows Lin Cheng should have been home hours ago. She starts calling around, asking if anyone has seen her.
Much later, Lin Cheng finally stumbles through the door. She looks awful. Her clothes are dirty, her hair is a mess, and she's limping badly. The family is shocked, but she refuses to say what happened. She doesn't tell anyone about Kwong Shan Tsuen's attack. She just drags herself to her room and shuts the door.
A Secret and a Power Play
The Big Reveal
Lin Cheng goes to her room to talk to Fang Yangtian. She finds him passed out on the bed. She completely panics and runs downstairs screaming for help. But then, Fang Yangtian walks down the stairs, perfectly fine.
He pulls her aside. He tells her the truth. He has a brain tumor. There is no effective treatment right now. He makes her promise to keep it a secret for the good of the company. Lin Cheng is devastated but knows she can't argue with him.
The Vultures Circle
Lin Cheng is consumed with worry. She decides to quit her job to focus on finding a treatment for him. Fang Yangtian flatly refuses. He needs her at the company.
Things get worse. His first round of chemotherapy doesn't work. The tumor has actually grown. Fang Xueli and his brother hear this news. They don't see a tragedy. They see an opportunity. They immediately start plotting to take back the vice-chairman position. Kwong Wai Leung is the first board member to pledge his support to Fang Xueli.
A Failed Dinner
An Empty Room
Fang Yangtian decides to host a dinner for the board members. He wants to pave the way for Lin Cheng's promotion. He shows up at the hotel, ready to schmooze. But no one comes. Not a single director.
Gao Jing is out eating with colleagues when she hears about the disaster. She immediately calls her brother, Gao Shen, hoping he can salvage the situation. Lin Cheng isn't even surprised. She and Gao Jing just start eating the fancy dinner by themselves. After a few drinks, Lin Cheng passes out.
A New Strategy
Just then, Gao Shen's brother arrives. He takes one look at the situation and gets it. He tells Gao Shen that the board isn't targeting Lin Cheng. They're making a move against Fang Yangtian. They need a new plan. Gao Shen agrees. He tells his team to work all night. They need to calculate the family's market value and project its earnings and debts for the next three years. They have to be ready for what's coming tomorrow.
