Episode Summary
In this episode, Jiaxin's past is revealed, and she is caught between Gao Shen and Fang Xueqin. Fang Ziyin's attempt to expose her father's medical condition is thwarted when the evidence is stolen. Gao Shen's Interrogation
Gao Shen finally corners Jiaxin. He gets straight to the point. He asks her if she's being blackmailed. He also asks if she was part of the "king's wife training camp." She tries to deny everything. But Gao Shen threatens to call her husband. That stops her cold. He tells her he knows her entire story is fake. Jiaxin breaks down. She admits everything.
Jiaxin's Story
Jiaxin tells Gao Shen about her past. She was relentlessly bullied as a kid because of her looks. Her family spent all their money on cosmetic surgery for her. After the surgery, she was beautiful, but the emotional scars never healed. She eventually met a woman named Mary. Mary helped her become a model, and things seemed to be improving. But then she met Fang Xueqin. That's when the blackmail started.
The Secret Mission for Pills
Fang Ziyin needs to find out what's really going on with her father's health. She comes up with a plan. She pretends she's visiting to give him a gift. This gets her into his room. She quickly finds the medication he's taking and grabs it. Her goal is to get the pills to a lab for testing. She doesn't know that Fang Xueqin is the one pulling the strings behind her little mission.
Lin Cheng finds out Ziyin took the pills. She panics and runs to Gao Shen. She's worried Ziyin is going to cause a huge problem. Gao Shen listens and agrees to help Jiaxin. But there's a condition. Jiaxin has to do exactly what he says.
A Snatch on the Street
Lin Cheng catches up with Fang Ziyin. She suspects someone put Ziyin up to this. Just then, their father, Fang Yangtian, video calls them. He looks weak. He explains that he set up a trust to help his son get back on the right path. Ziyin is moved by her father's words. She softens and hands the pills back to Lin Cheng.
Then, everything goes sideways. A man on a motorcycle appears out of nowhere. He snatches the pills right out of her hand and speeds off.
The Double-Cross
With Gao Shen's help, Jiaxin hacks into Mary's computer. She plans to delete an old video of her from before her surgery. Just as she's about to do it, Mary shows up behind her. Mary just laughs, telling Jiaxin she's naive to think deleting a video will solve her problems.
But Mary doesn't know the whole story. Gao Shen has also been busy. He discovered that the "king's wife" is the mistress of a very famous person. He uses this information as leverage. He forces her to promise she'll leave Jiaxin alone for good. Jiaxin feels a wave of relief. She goes for a walk by the river, thinking it's all over. Then her phone buzzes. It's an anonymous message. She opens it and sees the very surgery video she tried to delete. Her heart sinks.
The Family Dinner Showdown
Lin Cheng tries to make peace with her mother-in-law, Old Mrs. Fang. She cooks for her, hoping to convince her to drop the lawsuit. It doesn't work. Lin Cheng almost blurts out that Fang Yangtian doesn't have much time left. But he stops her before she can say it. This leads to a huge fight between mother and son.
Later, Fang Xueli suggests a family dinner. Fang Yangtian is pleased and agrees. During the dinner, Jiaxin rushes in with a lab report. Fang Xueli announces that he has the report. He claims it proves their father is taking painkillers that damage his mental state. He says this gives them grounds to sue and win.
Fang Xueqin eagerly grabs the report from Jiaxin and opens it. He expects to see damning evidence. Instead, it's a lab report for vitamins.
It turns out Gao Shen was behind the anonymous text. He guessed that Jiaxin would betray them. So, he had her trade the real lab report for the blackmail video. He played everyone.
