Spoiler Alert

A Very Bad Day in a Tomb

The show kicks off with a flashback to the 1920s. We see a crew of tomb raiders staring down a dark hole. One of the old guys is already spooked. He sees blood in the soil, which is never a good sign.

They leave a young boy, San Yazi, up top to hold the rope. His grandfather didn't want him going down there. Good call, grandpa. The men go into the tomb. At first, you can hear them talking. Then the screaming starts. It's the kind of screaming that makes your skin crawl. The last thing San Yazi hears is his grandfather yelling at him to run.

So, he runs. He can hear something rustling behind him, getting closer. In a moment of quick thinking, he drops and plays dead in the mud. Some kind of monster walks right over his back. It leaves these deep, nasty wounds that look like they're corroding his skin. The pain must have been intense.

When the coast is clear, he pulls on the rope. What comes up is not a person. It's his second uncle's severed hand. The hand is still gripping a letter covered in dense writing. Before he can even process that, he sees his uncle. Except it's not him anymore. He's become a "blood corpse," a mutated monster dripping with blood. He was poisoned in the tomb.

Meet Wu Xie

Now we're in the present. That kid, San Yazi, is an old man. His grandson is Wu Xie. Wu Xie runs an antique shop, but he's clearly fascinated by his family's dangerous history. He spends his time studying the old records his ancestors left behind.

A Shady Customer

One day, a guy named Jin Wantang walks into the shop. He's flashy, with a gold tooth and a big chain. He asks Wu Xie if he has any old family stuff lying around. He's specifically looking for diaries or diagrams. To show he's serious, he pulls out a photocopy of a tattered document.

Wu Xie recognizes it immediately. It looks just like the paper his grandfather took from the tomb all those years ago. He's instantly cautious. He knows this isn't something to take lightly, so he tells Jin Wantang he can't help him.

The Adventure Begins

Calling in an Expert

Jin Wantang leaves, but he forgets to take his copy of the diagram. Big mistake. Wu Xie doesn't hesitate. He whips out his phone and takes a picture of it. Then he immediately calls his third uncle, Wu Sanxing. This is the guy you call when you find a potential treasure map. He's seen it all.

It's a Treasure Map

Wu Sanxing tells him to meet at a place called Dragon's Ridge. When he sees the picture, he confirms Wu Xie's suspicions. The document is a type of coded diagram. And when you solve the code, it becomes a treasure map.

Wu Xie is hooked. He wants in on this adventure. His uncle says no at first. It's too dangerous. But Wu Xie is persistent. After a lot of begging, his uncle finally gives in. He agrees to take Wu Xie along, but with one condition. He has to find two more trustworthy people to join their team.
