Third Uncle is Missing
The episode kicks off with Third Uncle (Wu Sanxing) getting his affairs in order. He’s planning a trip to a place called Ru Hai. He knows these trips are dangerous, so he’s making calls to old friends just in case. It’s clear the person he’s most worried about leaving behind is Wu Xie. One of his friends seems just as obsessed with what happened at Ru Hai years ago. He decides he’s going too, to finally get some answers.
Meanwhile, Wu Xie can't find his uncle anywhere. He correctly guesses that he’s gone to Ru Hai. Wu Xie spends his time visiting Pan Zi, who is still unconscious in the hospital. When he’s not at the hospital, he’s wandering through the local antique market.
A Pro on the Antique Street
You really get to see Wu Xie’s talent shine here. He’s walking through the market and spots a rookie dealer. The guy claims his wares are family heirlooms. Wu Xie can tell they're fakes just by looking at them. He can even estimate the production cost of everything on the table with a single glance.
The dealer is completely blown away. He realizes Wu Xie is the real deal. He offers to pay Wu Xie to help appraise items for him and the other clueless vendors. Wu Xie agrees. He uses it as a chance to hand out business cards for his own little antique shop. Smart move.
A Mysterious Call
Things get serious when Wu Xie gets a phone call. The woman on the line says she’s from a marine survey company. She tells him that Wu Sanxing borrowed a boat to go to Ru Hai. He’s now been missing for three days. Before he left, Third Uncle told her to contact Wu Xie if anything went wrong.
Wu Xie doesn't hesitate. He goes straight to the address she gives him. He finds an exploration ship and meets the woman from the phone. Her name is A Ning. She’s sharp, beautiful, and seems to have a professional relationship with his uncle. Wu Xie believes her story. He decides he has to help find the underwater shipwreck his uncle was looking for.
The Search Begins
There's one big problem. Nobody knows the exact location of the wreck from twenty years ago. On the ship, Wu Xie runs into a familiar face. It’s Pang Zi, an old friend he’s been through a lot with. They catch up and talk about Pan Zi's condition. Pang Zi is a realist. He knows the risks that come with their line of work.
A Ning gets down to business. She shows Wu Xie a ton of photos of the sea, hoping something will jog his memory. Wu Xie pores over them, comparing them to the information he has. He finally picks one out. It’s a photo of a small island. He tells A Ning with certainty that this is where his uncle went.
A Ning is impressed with how quickly he found it. She immediately tells the captain to set a course for the island.
A Major Discovery
With the plan in motion, A Ning tells Wu Xie that his uncle left a bag behind on the ship. Wu Xie opens it. Inside, he finds two diaries. They belonged to a woman named Chen Wenjin.
