A Calm Before the Storm

The episode starts quietly on the open sea. The expedition boat is making good time. Pang Zi is keeping up with his daily workouts. Professor Zhang just stands on the deck in his life vest, watching the scenery. You can always count on him for that.

Wu Xie is spending his time reading Chen Wenjin's diary. It details her expedition with his Third Uncle. But something is off. The diary doesn't match the stories Third Uncle told him.

The Diary's Secrets

In Chen Wenjin's telling, Third Uncle was a gifted explorer. He was the one pushing the team forward. He even seems connected to the discovery of the original shipwreck. She writes about feeling that something was wrong. She wanted to turn back multiple times. Each time, Third Uncle convinced her to keep going.

The diary starts with neat, orderly handwriting. By the end, it's just a messy pencil scribble. The last entry is a drawing of a dark, creepy shadow. Wu Xie has no idea what it all means. He feels completely unprepared for this trip.

Pang Zi, on the other hand, is his usual self. He’s here for a job. He wants to finish it, get his money, and go home. He doesn't care about the secrets. He tells Wu Xie not to overthink everything. Some things just don't have clear answers. Then he hands Wu Xie a hamburger. It reminds Wu Xie of his uncle, who used to say similar things.

Into the Eye

Later that night, the boat starts shaking violently. Wu Xie wakes up to a massive storm. The waves are huge, maybe a dozen meters high. Of course, the boat picks this exact moment to break down. Everyone is terrified.

A Ning is the only one keeping a cool head. She’s at the helm. She says turning back is impossible. The waves are too big and would flip the boat for sure. Their only hope is to push forward. They have to get through the storm and into the eye. Pang Zi decides to bet on her. He slams the button to move the boat forward.

After a few terrifying seconds, everything goes still. The boat is suddenly stable. The sea ahead of them is completely calm and open. They made it.

Down into the Wreck

They've reached their destination. A Ning dives in first to scout the area. She quickly finds the shipwreck and signals for everyone to come down. The team gets into their scuba gear. They're all experienced, so the descent into the wreck goes smoothly.

The ship is huge inside. Surprisingly, there are pockets of air. The pressure has kept a lot of oxygen in the cabins. A Ning tests the air quality. The CO2 levels are high. She says they have two or three hours at most. They need to find who they're looking for and get out fast.

A Strange Welcome

Wu Xie notices a strange sweet smell in the air. He recognizes it from the diary. It's called "Forbidden Woman Fragrance." Ancient craftsmen created it to confuse wild animals.

A Ning spots a set of footprints on the floor. They're small. They don't look human. The tracks lead to a large stone drum and then just stop. Suddenly, the drum starts shaking. It rolls to the side on its own. The team cautiously follows it. The drum seems to be leading them somewhere. It even stops and waits when they fall behind.

Traps and Betrayal

While following the drum, A Ning steps on a pressure plate. It's a trap. Pang Zi carefully moves in to help her. But A Ning just lifts her foot. She triggers the trap on purpose. Arrows start flying from the walls.

Pang Zi gets hit and screams in pain. Wu Xie grabs his backpack to use as a shield. He tries to get to Pang Zi to help him.

Then A Ning does something cold. She grabs Wu Xie. She uses him as a human shield. Holding him in front of her, she pushes forward toward the arrow mechanism, completely ignoring his safety.
