Episode Summary
A botched attempt to intimidate Ma Shanbao results in an innocent man, Xu Tan, getting burned with hot oil. This escalates tensions between the gangs, leading to a kidnapping and arson. Meanwhile, Luo Wen uncovers photographic evidence that proves Ma Shanbao is innocent, as he was stealing another car at the time. Before she can use it, Qin Yu and Cao Weier find the car and burn it to destroy the alibi, leaving Luo Wen and Tang Xuan to watch the evidence go up in smoke.

An Innocent Man Gets Burned
Han Lie wants to send a message to Ma Shanbao. He hires an inmate to rough him up in the old district. The plan goes sideways immediately. The hired muscle gets the wrong guy. He throws a pan of scorching hot oil on Xu Tan, the guy who was protecting Ma Shanbao.
Ma Shanbao just watches, completely terrified, as Xu Tan writhes on the ground in pain. He screams for help. When Tang Xuan hears about the attack, she confronts her husband, Shi Zheyang. She knows someone must have leaked information. She thinks someone is trying to permanently silence Ma Shanbao. Shi Zheyang just tells her to drop it. He says a lot of people are using this situation to settle old scores.
A Lawyer Gets Cold Feet
Tang Xuan goes to see Luo Wen. She knows Luo Wen wants to help Ma Shanbao. The problem is the media. They reported on Han Gang getting hit. Now, everyone hates people from the old district. Tang Xuan sees photos of Xu Tan's injuries and feels a wave of guilt.
Ma Shanbao finds out it was Han Cheng's crew who attacked Xu Tan. He panics and tries to call his lawyer, Luo Wen. But Luo Wen is officially spooked. She’s worried the case will anger Han Kuilong. She is so scared she won't even answer her phone.
The Gangs Escalate
A Pig's Head and a Promise
Things get even stranger. Qi Changrong sends a pig's head to the police station. It comes with a note. The note makes a dark joke about the hot oil attack. Tang Xuan thinks they can use this to get under Han Kuilong's skin. It works. Han Kuilong says he'll cause trouble every single day until they find the driver.
Tang Xuan needs to calm him down. She uses his son, Han Lie, as a bargaining chip. This gets Han Kuilong to back off for now. She promises she will find the real culprit. She even agrees to let him see Han Gang again.
Revenge by Fire
Qi Changrong decides to get his own revenge for Xu Tan. He kidnaps one of Han Cheng's men. Then he sets a fire. This is a clear act of retaliation.
Back at the hospital, Han Lie finds Tang Jia. He previously accused her of being a spy for another gang. Now he apologizes. He talks about how tough his brother used to be in fights. He even tries to give her a bubble tea as a peace offering. She doesn't accept it. She just gives the drink to her coworker.
The Cover-Up Gets Desperate
Qin Yu's Close Call
Qin Yu spots someone lurking outside his apartment building that night. He gets worried about his son's safety. The next morning, he decides to send his son to his grandmother's house.
Tang Xuan happens to stop by his apartment. Qin Yu notices she has an asthma inhaler. He gets nervous and starts to cough. He tries his best to suppress it. He can't let her know he has asthma too. Luckily, she just makes small talk at the door and leaves.
The Alibi
Cao Weier feels the walls closing in. He wants to go to the police and confess. Qin Yu tells him that's a terrible idea. He says a guy like Han Kuilong won't stop with just him. He'll make sure everyone connected to the incident pays.
Later, Qin Yu visits Luo Wen. He pushes her to keep representing Ma Shanbao. He tells her she's the only person Ma Shanbao can rely on. Luo Wen reveals something huge. She found an alibi for Ma Shanbao. She has a witness. The witness can prove Ma Shanbao was busy stealing a different Mercedes at the exact time of the hit-and-run. He's innocent.
Destroying the Evidence
Han Lie calls Tang Xuan directly. He tells her about his man being burned. He says he's done waiting. He's going to find the truth himself.
This forces Qin Yu to act. He secretly calls Cao Weier. He tells him to find someone named Xiaobei and get him out of the city. He needs to do it before Luo Wen finds him.
Right after the call, Luo Wen shows up. She trusts Qin Yu completely. She shows him the photo proving Ma Shanbao was stealing the Mercedes during the accident. She tells him she already sent this crucial information to Tang Xuan.
Qin Yu and Cao Weier know they are out of time. They race to find the Mercedes from the alibi. They get there before Tang Xuan. They burn the car, destroying the only proof of Ma Shanbao's innocence. They barely escape without being seen. Tang Xuan and Luo Wen arrive to find the car engulfed in flames. Luo Wen is in total shock. Tang Xuan just looks at her.
