The Frame-Up Begins

A Desperate Phone Call

So, Qin Yu is in a tough spot. He learns the cops found an asthma inhaler at the hit-and-run scene. That's bad news for him and his son. He needs to shift the blame, and fast.

He decides to act. He makes an anonymous call to Han Lie. He tells him the guy who hit his brother, Han Gang, works for Qi Changrong's crew from the old district. It's a bold move. It's also a total lie. Qin Yu is pointing the finger at someone else to save his own skin.

A Mother's Plea

While all this is happening, we see Qi Changrong. He's just hanging out on the street, playing with some local kids. He seems like a decent guy. Then Cao Weil's wife, Xiao Xue, shows up looking for him.

Her son, Ma Shanbao, is in jail. The police arrested him for stealing the car involved in the accident. She's desperate for Qi Changrong's help. Qi Changrong learns that Cao Weil was the one who called Ma Shanbao away that night. He tells Xiao Xue that Cao Weil needs to take full responsibility for what happened to the kid.

An Unlikely Ally

A Rough Start

Things aren't going well for Ma Shanbao in jail. He gets bullied by his cellmates right away. Luckily, another inmate from the old district steps in and helps him out. At least he has one person watching his back.

Qi Changrong gives Xiao Xue some more bad news. The car her son supposedly stole was used to hit Han Kuilong's son. This isn't a simple car theft anymore. It's way more complicated.

Luo Wen Steps In

Then, a lawyer named Luo Wen meets Ma Shanbao. She feels sorry for him. She believes he's innocent and offers to help clear his name. Ma Shanbao is grateful. He tells her his friend, Xiao Bei, can prove he didn't hit anyone. He has an alibi.

Meanwhile, Han Lie is getting paranoid at the hospital. A nurse's shift change makes him think an assassin has come for his brother. It turns out to be nothing. He's just jumpy.

The System Is Broken

Luo Wen Hits a Wall

Luo Wen is a good lawyer. She does her job. She finds Xiao Bei and confirms Ma Shanbao's alibi. He's innocent. She rushes to tell her boss, Tang Xuan, the good news.

But Tang Xuan doesn't care. She has a serious prejudice against people from the old district. She refuses to look into it any further. She just wants to close the case. Luo Wen is completely frustrated. The system is working against her.

She doesn't give up, though. She goes back to Xiao Bei. She begs him to come forward and testify for Ma Shanbao. But his family is scared. They kick her out of their house.

A Family Divided

Later, Tang Xuan gets home. Her sister, Tang Jia, is waiting for her. She completely forgot they had plans. The table is full of food. Tang Xuan feels guilty and apologizes. She then warns her sister to be careful. Some of her patients are gangsters. She doesn't want her sister getting into trouble.

The Confrontation

Cao Weil's Rage

Cao Weil finds out from his wife that the car was involved in a serious crime. He realizes he's the one who sent his own nephew, Ma Shanbao, into this disaster. He is furious.

He grabs a gun and goes straight to Qin Yu. He confronts him. Qin Yu has no choice but to confess everything. He set the whole thing up. Cao Weil is shaking with anger. He wants to shoot him. But he can't bring himself to do it. Instead, he just punches Qin Yu hard.

After the fight, Cao Weil is worried. He's afraid this will drag both kids down. Qin Yu quietly gets a pile of cash. He's already planning his escape route.

A Mother's Choice

Cao Weil goes to see his cousin, Xiao Xue. He lays out a terrible deal. He tells her the case is messy. If Ma Shanbao pleads guilty, Cao Weil will make sure her family is taken care of for life. He'll even help them move out of the old district. He tries to sell it as a chance for Ma Shanbao to get his life straight in prison.

Xiao Xue is heartbroken. She begs Qi Changrong to let her see her son one last time. He feels for her and arranges a secret meeting in the jail.

She sees Ma Shanbao. Through tears, she tells him to plead guilty. She says the people behind this are too powerful to fight. If he takes the fall, the family will get money. The money can even pay for his little brother's medical treatments. It's an impossible choice.

Shortly after, Qin Yu gets a text message. He reads it and a look of relief washes over his face. His plan is working.

Loose Ends and New Threats

A Father's Duty

We get a quick check-in on Qin Yu's son, Yiwei. He got caught drinking at school. Qin Yu is called in. He doesn't defend his son's behavior. He actually thanks the coach. The coach saved Yiwei's life when he had an asthma attack.

The coach then pulls Qin Yu aside. He suggests that Yiwei might have some psychological issues. He tells Qin Yu to pay more attention to his son.

Revenge in the Making

This whole thing is far from over. Han Lie still wants blood. He doesn't believe the person responsible has been caught. He wants real revenge for his brother.

So he pays off an inmate. He gives him instructions to teach one of Qi Changrong's guys a lesson. The episode ends as this inmate sneaks up behind Ma Shanbao. He's holding something dangerously hot.
