The episode kicks off right at the shooting scene. Cops are everywhere. Tang Xuan is there, and she is staring daggers at Luo Wen. You can just feel the rage coming off her. She clearly blames Luo Wen for what happened. Also in the crowd is Qi Changrong. He looks furious, but in a quiet, calculating way. Everyone is just gutted about Ma Shanbao's death.

The Blame Game
Back at the Han residence, things are tense. Han Kuilong has already figured it out. He knows his younger son, Han Lie, killed Ma Shanbao. He rips into him for being so impulsive. He tells him he walked right into Qi Changrong's trap. Qi Changrong just used Han Lie to get rid of Ma Shanbao for him. Han Lie, however, doesn't seem to grasp the problem. Tang Xuan is drowning in self-blame. She feels like she failed to protect Ma Shanbao. The guy gets out on bail for one day and ends up dead. She has a strong feeling Qi Changrong is going to make another move. So, she immediately puts a tail on him. She wants eyes on him at all times.

Over at Qin Yu's place, his mother-in-law has a question. She noticed he withdrew a huge amount of cash. Qin Yu has to think fast. He lies and says the money is to send his son, Yiwei, abroad. He uses the whole scandal with Yiwei and the female coach as a convenient excuse to protect his son's future.

Qin Yu finally gets a moment to check his phone. A message from Cao Weier is waiting. The message says Ma Shanbao was never going to say a word. That's when Qin Yu completely shatters. He starts sobbing uncontrollably. He knows he is the reason Ma Shanbao is dead.

After that, their lives went in different directions. She married Han Kuilong, and he joined the police force.

Lin Qian goes to the prison to visit Han Kuilong. He's worried sick about his son, Han Gang. Han Gang is currently at the hospital watching over his injured brother. He spots a woman, Tang Jia, talking with a colleague about a new watch. He gets an idea. He pretends his brother's IV drip needs changing to get her attention. He's disappointed when a different nurse comes in. A moment later, he walks out of the room and bumps right into Tang Jia. He apologizes, but inside, he's thrilled.

The Coach Confesses
Qin Yu's mother-in-law takes matters into her own hands. She finds Coach Yu and tries to persuade her to stay away from Yiwei. The coach finally tells her the truth. Yiwei only used her as someone to talk to. Their relationship was completely innocent. She even returns a necklace Yiwei had given her. The mother-in-law realizes her grandson was just looking for an emotional crutch.
A Mother's Plea
Luo Wen sees the news about the gang war cover-up. She's not having it. She goes to see Tang Xuan. She arrives just in time to overhear Tang Xuan talking with Qin Yu's mother-in-law. The mother-in-law is talking about her own daughter's death years ago. She reveals she is a pharmacist. She never believed her daughter died from an accidental overdose. After all these years, she still has no answers. She just begs Tang Xuan to make the current car theft mess with her grandson, Yiwei, go away quickly.
The Inhaler
While this is happening, Luo Wen secretly looks at a report on Tang Xuan's desk. It's a lab analysis of an asthma inhaler. This is a huge find. She rushes off to tell Qin Yu. When she gets there, he sees the report in her hands, panics, and quickly hides it.

Suddenly, Lin Qian walks in. Yiwei is terrified and runs for it. On his way out, Han Lie spots him and thinks he looks suspicious. Han Lie is about to chase him. But then he hears someone yell that Han Gang is waking up. Han Lie has to turn back. Yiwei manages to get away.
