Episode Summary
Ji Bozai plans to destroy the Abyss. We learn Chao Heng wiped out the Bo clan for a medical manual, which is now the only thing that can save Ming Yi. Ming Yi goes after it alone, leading to a huge misunderstanding with Ji Bozai. While everyone prepares for war, Situ Ling and Ming Yi head into the Abyss, where Situ Ling kills Chao Xuan in a clever trap. The episode ends with Ji Bozai arriving just in time to save an injured Ming Yi.

The Plan to Destroy the Abyss
So, Tianji calls in Ji Bozai for a strategy session. You can tell Ji Bozai already has a plan. He looks way too calm. He tells Tianji what's up. After Hou Zhao turned himself in, Si Pan Hall freed all the innocent people from The Abyss, the Abyss. The rest of the prisoners were moved somewhere else.
But the Abyss itself is still a huge problem. Ji Bozai knows that if they just leave it there, it's going to cause more trouble down the line. His solution is pretty drastic. He wants to pull out all the guards. Then he'll use his power to seal the Spirit-Devouring Tree and destroy the Abyss for good. Tianji agrees. It has to be done.
A Twenty-Two-Year-Old Secret
Fu Yue is watching Situ Ling. He's hurt again from trying to heal Ming Yi. She feels terrible for him, but he doesn't care. He would do anything for Ming Yi.
Fu Yue was also busy digging up dirt. She was ordered to find clues about "Fleeting Dream." She managed to bribe one of Chao Yu's trusted men. And boy, did she find something big. She uncovered a secret that's been buried for twenty-two years.
The Bo Family's Medical Manual
It turns out Chao Heng secretly sent his troops to wipe out the entire Bo clan. They searched the family's ancestral home on Zhangwei Mountain. They found the upper volume of the legendary Bo's Medical Manual. After that, a fire destroyed the Bo family estate. The clan was nearly annihilated.
Chao Heng gave the upper volume to Mu Qibai. It was hidden deep inside the Abyss and used to make some kind of secret medicine. He then sent Chao Yu to hunt down the surviving Bo sisters. He wanted the lower volume of the manual. Chao Yu has been looking for it ever since and has found nothing.
Situ Ling figures the lower volume must still be hidden in the Bo family's ancestral home. The place is protected by a barrier. Only someone with Bo family blood can get inside. And right now, the only person with that bloodline is Ji Bozai.
Ming Yi Goes Rogue
Situ Ling tells Ming Yi everything. He's getting ready to go to the Abyss himself to get the upper volume of the manual. But Ming Yi doesn't want to be a burden to anyone. She leaves a letter and takes off on her own. She's going into that dangerous place alone to find her own cure.
When Situ Ling finds the letter, he panics. He rushes out to find her. Zhang Tai immediately sends a message to Ji Bozai. He begs him to help find Ming Yi.
A Major Misunderstanding
By this point, Ming Yi is so weak she collapses in a forest. Luckily, Ji Bozai finds her just in time. He carries her to a simple hut to recover. You can see he's still deeply disappointed in her. But seeing her so frail, he just can't stay completely mad.
When Ming Yi wakes up, Ji Bozai asks her why she ran off. She avoids telling him the real reason. She accidentally brings up Ming Xian being poisoned. This is a huge mistake. Ji Bozai completely misunderstands. He thinks she only got close to him in the first place to save Ming Xian. He gets furious and storms out.
Zhang Tai's Loyalty
Zhang Tai gets a message from Ji Bozai. He rushes to pick up Ming Yi and takes her back to his place. There, he finds out her biggest secret. Ming Yi is actually Ming Xian, the crown prince of Yaoguang Mountain.
You might think he'd be angry about the deception. But he's not. Zhang Tai sees past the lies. He is certain that Ming Yi never meant any harm to Jixing Yuan. He remembers how she saved him multiple times when things got bad. He decides he's all in. He's going to do everything he can to help her and make sure nothing else happens to her.
Gearing Up for War
The fighters at Shouhua Pan Palace have finished their training. A critical battle is coming. Meng Yangqiu, Yan Xiao, and a young fighter named Chen Xi are on the roster. They're going up against the Chasing Water Spirit Continent, which has a deep and powerful history. Everyone is feeling a little nervous.
Just then, Ji Bozai shows up to take command. His presence immediately boosts everyone's morale.
Mu Yuanfeng is still worried, though. He knows Chao Heng has lived for centuries. He has countless secret techniques and powers. He's afraid Jixing Yuan can't possibly win. But Ji Bozai gives a powerful speech. He says being scared before the fight is the same as losing. You don't just accept your fate. If there's no path forward, you carve one out yourself. His determination, along with that of Yan Xiao and Tianji, impresses Mu Yuanfeng. He officially puts Tianji in charge of leading the defense.
Showdown in the Abyss
News suddenly arrives from Yaoguang Mountain. They've named Ming Xin the new crown prince. Zhang Tai tries to comfort Ming Yi. He points out that since Yaoguang Mountain has joined the war, they need someone to represent them.
Situ Ling knows Ming Yi is too proud to let others get hurt for her. He gives her a complete map of the Abyss. He begs her again to let him go with her to find the medical manual.
She Tianlin sees Ming Yi coughing up blood. He's heartbroken. He warns her not to use her spiritual powers at all. At her request, he uses his own power to charge her crossbow so she has some way to defend herself.
Situ Ling's Gambit
Chao Xuan and his men sneak into the Abyss. They're also looking for the medical manual. They run right into Situ Ling. Chao Xuan doesn't hold back and attacks. Situ Ling pretends to be killed. As Chao Xuan moves in to grab the manual, Situ Ling suddenly springs back to life. He counter-attacks and kills Chao Xuan. It was a gutsy move.
Ji Bozai's Rescue
At the same time, Ji Bozai is sealing the Spirit-Devouring Tree. He feels a disturbance in the Abyss. He rushes to the scene. He arrives just in time to see Ming Yi get injured by one of Chao Xuan's remaining men. Without hesitating, Ji Bozai jumps in to protect her.
