Spoiler Alert

A Desperate Save

The episode kicks off right in the middle of the crisis. Ji Bozai is dying. His spiritual energy, his whole life force, is just shattered. Ming Yi knows she's the only one who can help. She rushes to Yaoguang Palace with Bu Xiu and her crew.

Of course, the guards at the gate try to stop her. They don't just let anyone in. But thankfully, the Divine Lord knows what's up. He understands Ji Bozai's condition is critical. He makes an exception and lets Ming Yi inside.

The scene in the inner chamber is grim. Ji Bozai is pale and his breathing is weak. The "Heaven of Parting Sorrow" curse inside him is running wild. Ming Yi doesn't hesitate. She does the one thing she can. She cuts herself and uses her own heart's blood to save him. The blood counteracts the curse. It works. Ji Bozai's breathing stabilizes, and he finally wakes up.

This isn't a permanent fix, though. It's just a patch. The curse is still inside him, waiting to explode again. The thought of losing him for good hits Ming Yi hard. She just breaks down, crying on his chest. He holds her, and you can tell he feels just as terrible. It's a quiet, heartbreaking moment.

The Villain's Power Play

Now, let's check in with the bad guys. Situ Ling has been busy. He used the lifeblood of countless beings to "ripen" the Diwu Wood Heart. He then goes to report his success to Chao Heng.

Situ Ling explains exactly how he did it. He used Ji Bozai's love for Ming Yi as a weapon. He engineered the whole situation to trigger the curse and bring Ji Bozai to the brink of death. Chao Heng is thrilled. He even scoffs at Ji Bozai. He calls him the former prince of Yaoguang Mountain, mocking him for falling for Ming Xian.

Then comes the twist. Chao Heng asks for the Diwu Wood Heart. Situ Ling refuses. Instead, he makes a demand. He wants to be the new crown prince of the Chasing Water Spirit Continent.

Chao Heng's Backstory

Chao Heng is furious. He refuses the deal. But Situ Ling has another surprise. He fused the Diwu Wood Heart directly into his own body. Chao Heng tries to attack him, planning to just rip the heart out. This was a huge mistake. Situ Ling had a parasitic creature hidden in his spiritual veins. It attacks Chao Heng, draining a hundred years of his power in an instant.

Defeated and desperate, Chao Heng spills his secrets. He tells Situ Ling his tragic backstory. He was once deeply in love with a woman. She convinced him to build a special array, promising him power over all the realms. It was a lie. She was actually setting a trap to suppress an army of beasts. She hated him for his cruelty and his disregard for human life. She planned for them both to die together. After this betrayal, Chao Heng killed the woman he loved. He sacrificed her to his own Swallowing Heaven Array. He hasn't believed in love or kindness since.

Situ Ling just laughs at this story. He tells Chao Heng that they are nothing alike. For Situ Ling, emotion isn't a weakness. He believes it makes him stronger.

The Wedding Trap

So, the Chasing Water Spirit Continent makes a public announcement. They are celebrating "Chao Yuan" being named the new crown prince. As part of the celebration, they will display the Diwu Wood Heart. It's obviously a trap.

Ming Yi knows it's a trap. But she has to go. She needs that heart to save Ji Bozai for good. She decides to go alone.

She arrives at the palace, and it's completely empty. Suddenly, Situ Ling appears and captures her. When she wakes up, she's in a wedding dress. The room is decorated for a wedding ceremony.

Situ Ling is angry. He can't stand her indifference toward him. He asks her why she can't give him even a little bit of affection.

The Big Reveal

Here's the real shocker. The person in the wedding dress isn't Ming Yi. It's Ji Bozai. He disguised himself to stall Situ Ling. This gave the real Ming Yi time to search for the Diwu Wood Heart.

Ji Bozai drops the disguise and transforms back into himself. Just then, the real Ming Yi arrives. Situ Ling realizes he's been played. He is heartbroken and full of rage. He does the unthinkable. He rips the Diwu Wood Heart right out of his own chest, intending to destroy it.

Ming Yi is faster. She snatches the heart. She tries to leave with Ji Bozai, but Situ Ling attacks them. Ji Bozai is still too weak from the curse to fight back. But Ming Yi is not. She defeats Situ Ling in a single move.

Before she leaves, she heals him. She tells him he could have been something great, but he chose to become this "Chao Yuan" and lost himself. She warns him that the next time they meet, they are enemies. She won't be merciful again.

A Painful Secret

Later, She Tianlin helps prepare another cure, the "Fleeting Dream." Bu Xiu implants it into Ji Bozai. The process is pure agony. Ji Bozai has to endure a long and terrible torment.

This is when Ming Yi figures it out. She took the Fleeting Dream once before and felt nothing. Now she knows why. Ji Bozai secretly took all the pain for her back then.

When he finally wakes up, she confronts him. She's upset that he hides everything from her. She found out about his plan to destroy the Swallowing Heaven Array by sacrificing himself. She asks him, if he dies, what is she supposed to do?

Ji Bozai tries to act cold and push her away. But you can see it in his eyes. Hearing her words, he can't hide his love for her. The episode ends with them at a standoff. She's crying, and he's pretending he doesn't care.
