Spoiler Alert
The World's Most Awkward Car Ride
The episode opens with Haoming and Yan in a car together. You could cut the tension with a knife. Haoming tries to break the ice. He brings up their honeymoon. It does not work. Yan is completely over it.
The Jiang Liang Argument
Yan decides to drop a bomb. She tells Haoming her new sponsor is Jiang Liang. Haoming does not take this well. He immediately starts trashing the guy. He calls Jiang Liang a lazy bum who only has a position because of his sister.
But Yan isn't having it. She defends Jiang Liang. She says his advice was actually really helpful. This just makes Haoming angrier. He wants to know why she didn't tell him she was looking for investors a month ago. Yan fires back. She reminds him that Qiao Lin already told him, but he wasn't paying attention.
The Breakup, Part Two
The argument gets really petty, really fast. Haoming brings up some old online post. He says he only bought that osmanthus wine because he saw her mention it once. He's trying to prove he cares. It just makes him look childish.
So, Yan goes for the jugular. She mocks him for wearing glasses he doesn't even need. She says he's just trying to fake an "old money" vibe. This hits a nerve. Haoming gets so mad he literally throws his glasses. Yan then tells him she doesn't care about gifts from guys. She's had plenty before him. Haoming's jealousy flares up. He asks how many guys there were. She implies there were ten. That's the final straw. He slams on the brakes and stops the car in the middle of the road. Yan gets out and walks away.
Haoming's Redemption Arc?
Later, Haoming gets a lecture from his own son. Haochen tells him he's being a blockhead. He says getting rejected by a girl is not the end of the world. Taking his son's advice, Haoming tries to talk to Yan again. She's cold, though. The conversation goes nowhere.
Meanwhile, Yan is thriving. Her studio is getting bigger. She calls her grandma, excited to tell her all about her work and her team. Haoming, on the other hand, is just obsessing over one thing. He needs to stop this divorce. The deadline, the 8th of the month, is haunting him.
A Father-Son Moment
There's a surprising development at the company. Haoming's dad finds out that a piece of land they need for a project was bought by Haoming ten years ago. He's genuinely impressed with his son's foresight.
Haoming offers to give the land to the company for free. He then opens up to his dad. He says he finally understands the pressure his parents were under because of Haochen. He understands the negative impact it had on the company. He appreciates how much they've loved and supported him. His dad is moved. He promises that if Haoming handles this project well, he'll get a seat on the board. But he also warns him. The higher you go, the more people criticize you.
The Great Divorce Dodge
The day comes to finalize the divorce. Haoming starts dodging Yan's calls. He claims he's away on a business trip. Yan knows he's lying. She goes straight to his office and corners him.
Haoming immediately clutches his chest and fakes a heart problem. Yan knows it's an act, but she plays along. He takes it way too far. To waste as much time as possible, he insists on getting check-ups for everything. His ears, his nose, his throat. He gets the full tour. By the time Yan drags him to the Civil Affairs Bureau, it's closed for the day. They have to wait until the 8th of next month. Yan storms off, furious. Haoming is ecstatic. He actually shakes hands with the government employee.
Side Plots and Red Flags
A couple of other things happened while all this drama was going down.
Jiang Liang's Backstory
Jiang Liang opens up to Yan a little. He tells her he loved movies as a kid. His parents died, and his sister was always working to support him. That's why he got into collecting photography equipment. While they're talking, he secretly snaps a picture of the two of them together. Their moment is interrupted when a woman named Mei Ru shows up. She calls Jiang Liang out for lying about riding an electric scooter. He's embarrassed, but Yan doesn't seem to care.
Fang Lei Needs Help
This was weird. And not in a fun way. Fang Lei is apparently desperate for Haoming's attention. She actually asks him to hit her. It's a very disturbing moment that points to some serious issues.
