Episode Summary
Xu Yan's in-laws begin to accept her, but she's put in charge of her difficult brother-in-law, Shen Haochen. She discovers her ex-boyfriend is running a scam company after he asks for an introduction to her husband. Meanwhile, her friend Qiao Lin's visit almost exposes her lies, but also provides some legal reassurance. The episode ends with Xu Yan dealing with Shen Haochen's escalating tantrums, which he uses to get attention from his family.

A Family That's (Almost) Getting Along
A Gift and a Hand-Off
The in-laws are finally starting to warm up to Xu Yan. After she lands a huge promotion as a major news anchor, Yu Lan and her husband actually buy her a gift together. Shen Haoming looks genuinely shocked that his mother is being so nice to his wife.
But don't get too comfortable. Yu Lan immediately turns around and dumps her younger son, Shen Haochen, on Xu Yan. She says she has a beauty appointment to get to and basically makes him Xu Yan's problem.
The Problem with Haochen
Xu Yan tries to have a real conversation with Shen Haochen. It turns out he's upset for a reason. He overheard his parents talking about sending him abroad and calling him a handful. He blames Xu Yan for everything, thinking she "stole" his big brother Shen Haoming. Xu Yan is taken aback, realizing she's unintentionally caused the kid some pain. She promises him she'll try to get Haoming to spend more time with him.

An Old Flame Reappears
Xu Yan runs into her ex-boyfriend, Zhou Zeyuan. They take a little trip down memory lane. They met when she was just starting out, totally naive and struggling to find a job. He apparently helped her when a company tried to scam her.
Xu Yan asks what he's up to now. He gets straight to the point.
The Big "Business" Reveal
Zhou Zeyuan wants Xu Yan to introduce him to her husband. He says his new company needs a major shareholder, and someone like Shen Haoming would be perfect to get things moving.
Later, Xu Yan goes to use the restroom at his office. She ends up overhearing something that changes everything. She figures out his company is a total scam. The phone on the desk isn't even plugged in.
Sisters, Lies, and Legal Advice
The Fake Cousin Visits
Xu Yan brings her friend Qiao Lin over to the house. The plan is for Qiao Lin to act like her cousin. Xu Yan gives her one simple rule: keep your mouth shut.
Of course, Qiao Lin does the exact opposite. She starts talking and can't stop, nearly spilling all of their secrets. She gets so tangled in her own words that she can't find a way to fix it.
A Little Legal Loophole
Qiao Lin tries to do some damage control by talking up Xu Yan to Shen Haoming. She tells him that when her "sister" falls in love, it's for life, so he better treat her right. Shen Haoming doesn't seem to take it very seriously.
Later, Qiao Lin gives Xu Yan some interesting news. She talked to a lawyer. The lawyer said that if Shen Haoming truly loves Xu Yan, she won't face any legal trouble even if her real identity comes out. Xu Yan is touched that Qiao Lin is looking out for her like that. The two share a sweet moment, and Xu Yan remembers how her sister always had her back, even when they were kids.

A Stunt for Attention
Shen Haochen is furious that his brother bailed on their horse-riding plans. When Xu Yan shows up trying to be nice, he's not having it. He gets even more irritated when he sees her taking pictures of him on the horse.
So, he decides to pull a stunt. He yanks on the reins, falls off the horse, and pretends to be hurt, all to get his family's attention.
The Standoff
It works, but only for a second. The family shows some brief concern and then moves on. This makes Shen Haochen explode. He starts throwing a tantrum and smashing things.
Xu Yan stays with him, even when he tries to kick her out. She knows how to handle his stubborn attitude. He tries to argue with her, loses, and then fakes a stomach ache to escape to the bathroom. Xu Yan is annoyed with the little brat, but she waits patiently for him anyway.
