Spoiler Alert

Su Muyu to the Rescue

The episode kicks off with Su Muyu facing down some Tang Clan goons. He is not in the mood for games. He basically tells them they have three moves to walk away. If they don't, he's going to kill them all. Simple as that. Tang Tianlu, their leader, just scoffs at the warning. Big mistake.

Right on cue, we see Mu Qingyang is completely surrounded by other Tang Clan members. He thinks he's a goner. But just as they're about to finish him, Su Muyu shows up. He saves Mu Qingyang in the nick of time.

Once they're safe, Mu Qingyang drops a bomb. The Tang Clan has kidnapped Mu Xuewei. He also reveals their lead doctor is none other than Night Raven. Su Muyu puts it together pretty quickly. The Tang Clan doesn't want to kill Mu Xuewei. They want her because the unique poison in her system is valuable. He figures she's probably safe for now.

Power Plays in the Tang Clan

Back at Tang headquarters, Tang Lingzun is furious. He can't believe his men let two people escape. He complains about how useless his subordinates are. But he's still arrogant. He thinks that no matter how strong his enemies are, this is his turf. They are in the Tang Clan's territory, and that's all that matters.

Then we get a look at Night Raven. She's talking to her old senior brother, Xin Baicao. She's gloating. She plans to cure Mu Xuewei, the "poison person." She wants to prove how skilled she's become. Apparently, she felt like nobody at their old school took her seriously. This is her chance to show everyone up. She later admits this isn't about some noble cause. She just thinks poisons are fun. Turning people into poison experiments is her hobby. Curing Mu Xuewei is just an interesting new challenge.

An Invitation You Can't Refuse

Su Changhe from Dark River receives a letter. It's an invitation to a meeting with the Tang Clan. The tone is incredibly arrogant. Su Changhe reads between the lines instantly. He knows the real Tang Clan master must be dead. This "peace talk" is obviously a trap. He figures someone powerful, like Tang Fulu, betrayed the old master and took over.

Su Muyu asks if he's actually going to go. Su Changhe says he has to. When someone invites you that forcefully, ignoring them is just asking for more trouble.

Trouble in Tianqi City

We also check in with Xiao Yong. He's trying to control Old Master Tang, but the old man isn't playing along. Xiao Yong gets nasty. He brings up the old man's loyalty to the Prince of Langya. He implies he can use that loyalty against him.

Xiao Yong gets even angrier when the old man says he's a disappointment. Old Master Tang even praises the dead Xiao Ruofeng right to his face. That's the last straw. Xiao Yong threatens him directly. He tells the old man that the Tang Clan has changed. And his life ends today.

Just as things look bad, Yan Zhantian appears out of nowhere and saves Old Master Tang. The old man is suspicious, though. This masked prince who saved him seems a little too perfect. His timing and sincerity feel calculated.

A Tense Negotiation

The meeting between Dark River and the new Tang Clan begins. Tang Lingzun actually says the enemy of his enemy is his friend. He admits the Tang Clan needs help from Dark River.

Su Changhe cuts right to the chase. He asks Tang Lingzun why Mu Xuewei is tied up. He says Dark River is very interested in her. He calls her "family" and makes it clear that kidnapping her will have consequences. Tang Lingzun tries to touch her, but Su Changhe physically stops him. He warns him not to lay a hand on his family.

Just then, Mu Xuewei wakes up. She immediately moves to stand behind Su Changhe. This is when Tang Lingzun gets really suspicious. He points out that Su Muyu, the actual head of the Su family, isn't even here. He questions Su Changhe's authority to make any deals.

Su Changhe just shrugs. He claims that he and Su Muyu think alike. His decisions are Su Muyu's decisions. This vague answer only makes Tang Lingzun more paranoid. He knows something isn't right.
