Tang Lici, suspicious of Feng Chuanxiang's motives, kicks him off a boat and reveals to Chi Yun that Feng supplied the poison. This sends Chi Yun on a chase, which was Tang Lici's plan all along. Tang Lici then confronts the surprisingly perceptive A'Shui about her own secrets. The trail leads Chi Yun and a tag-along Zhong Chunjie to the mythical Thirteenth Floor, a rising fortress for assassins, where Chi Yun reveals his tragic past and the origin of his loyalty to Tang Lici.
