Spoiler Alert
Feng Chuanxiang's Terrible Day
This episode kicks off with a bang. Feng Chuanxiang came here looking for answers about Jiang Cheng's murder. Instead, he finds someone trying to kill him. And the attacker is Jiang Cheng's uncle, Jiang Qingyu.
Jiang Qingyu finally spills his guts. He admits he wanted Jiang Cheng dead. The plan was to frame Jiang Cheng's own father for the murder. Then, Jiang Qingyu could swoop in and take over as the new city lord. He's furious that Feng Chuanxiang's interference messed up his scheme. The two of them immediately start fighting.
Tang Lici's Theory
While that's happening, Tang Lici and A'Shui are at the place where Feng Chuanxiang and Jiang Cheng stayed. Jiang Cheng might have accused Feng Chuanxiang with his dying breath. But Tang Lici isn't buying it. He detected something else on Jiang Cheng's body. He believes Jiang Cheng was suffering from a Gu poison for the last six months.
His theory is pretty simple. The real Feng Chuanxiang must have known about the poison. He was secretly adding medicine to Jiang Cheng's food to save him. Jiang Cheng just happened to catch him one time and misunderstood. Tang Lici decides he needs to prove this. He sends his divine eagle to the Thirteenth Floor to find some real answers.
The Twist You Didn't See Coming
A Trap and a Shocking Reveal
Back at the fight, Chi Yun sees Jiang Qingyu getting brutal. He's not just attacking Feng Chuanxiang but his own men, too. Chi Yun has no choice but to jump in and help. Zhong Chunjie also rushes into the fray. Jiang Qingyu is quickly outnumbered and tries to hide.
We learn he made a deal with the lord of the Thirteenth Floor. He traded his entire future for one chance to kill Feng Chuanxiang. The lord agreed and set up a confusing maze inside the building to help him.
Feng Chuanxiang, however, is trained in meditation. He can feel the wind and airflow to find the exit. Chi Yun and Zhong Chunjie follow him closely. Just as Jiang Qingyu is about to try another trick, Tang Lici shows up. He easily ties Jiang Qingyu up with a red rope.
Then Tang Lici stops everyone. He says it's time to reveal the truth. This Feng Chuanxiang is a fake. The real Feng Chuanxiang died six months ago.
Unmasking the Impostor
Tang Lici lays out his proof. He talks about things only the real Feng Chuanxiang would know. He mentions a poem connected to his name. He brings up a jade pendant that symbolized their friendship. This impostor knows nothing about any of it. Tang Lici explains he knew all along. He was just playing along to see what would happen.
The fake Feng Chuanxiang's plan is ruined. The impostor's true form is revealed. It's a strange puppet creature named "Hua Wuyan." But that's not all. Inside Hua Wuyan is a twin named "Cao Wufang." Cao Wufang suddenly lunges and stabs Tang Lici right in the chest. Blood goes everywhere.
Cao Wufang thinks the fight is over. He's wrong. Tang Lici has an indestructible body. The wound is serious, but it's already starting to heal.
The Awful Truth
A'Shui gets the full story to Jiang Cheng's father. He finally understands he was wrong about Tang Lici and apologizes.
Here is what really happened. Jiang Qingyu poisoned Jiang Cheng six months ago. Jiang Cheng trusted his uncle completely and had no idea. Later, he started living with Feng Chuanxiang. Feng Chuanxiang discovered the poison but couldn't bear to tell his friend the truth. So he secretly gave him medicine to ease the pain.
Jiang Cheng saw this and thought his best friend was poisoning him. During one of his poison-induced fits, he attacked Feng Chuanxiang and wounded him fatally. Feng Chuanxiang knew he was dying. He didn't want Jiang Cheng to wake up and feel guilty. So he left and died alone.
Tang Lici reflects on their tragic story. Both boys tried to protect each other. Both ended up getting hurt. He notes that in a way, Jiang Cheng was lucky. He died without ever knowing he killed his own best friend.
The episode isn't quite over. A'Yan is still plotting against Tang Lici after his last plan failed. And everyone is now heading to the Central Plains Sword Association. On the road, they run into the Central Plains King. He's arrogant and immediately orders the arrest of Jiang's father and Chi Yun. Just as things get tense, Tang Lici steps forward.
