Spoiler Alert
The Trap Is Sprung
Okay, so Quan Jingting is a real piece of work. He knows all about Wangquan Fugui and Qingtong. He uses this to his advantage. He has his men grab her and bring her right into the hornet's nest. The elders are already gathered in the main hall. They're losing their patience with Wangquan Hongye. They threaten to turn Fugui into a mindless weapon if they don't get an answer soon. Hongye is furious. He's not about to be pushed around like this. But his son is just as stubborn. Fugui refuses to admit he did anything wrong. Hongye was planning to give him one more day. If Fugui didn't back down, he'd just kick the elders out.
That plan goes out the window. Quan Jingting shows up with Qingtong in tow. He announces she was at the Cold Pond keeping Fugui company. He then points out the sword she carries. It's the one Fugui forged for her himself. Feng Tingyun sees this whole situation spiraling. She has no idea what to do. Hongye tests Qingtong's energy and feels the demon aura. He's livid.
A Desperate Denial
Qingtong is terrified but she hides it fast. She immediately tries to get Fugui out of trouble. She claims she stole the sword. She says demons and the Wangquan Mountain Villa are mortal enemies. She tries to sell a story that has nothing to do with him. Hongye is ready to kill her on the spot. But Quan Jingting steps in. He argues that since Fugui colluded with a demon, he should be the one to interrogate her.
This is just an excuse for cruelty. Quan Jingting tries to bait Qingtong into admitting she's involved with Fugui. She won't say a word. So he starts torturing her. It gets brutal. Feng Tingyun can't stand to watch this forced confession. She tries to intervene. Hongye stops her. Through all the pain, Qingtong never breaks. She insists she has nothing to do with Wangquan Fugui.
The Point of No Return
Fugui is still tied to a tree outside. He gets a message from Feng Tingyun letting him know what's happening. The situation gets even worse. Quan Jingting's men search Fugui's room. They find drawings he made of Qingtong. Now they have hard proof. Qingtong knows she can't explain it away. She just begs Hongye to kill her and end it. The Yiqi Alliance elders are completely convinced now. They see Fugui as a disaster that must be eliminated. Hongye orders his son to be brought before them. He doesn't need to. Fugui is already walking toward them.
The Ultimatum
Hongye gives his son one final choice. Pick up your sword. Kill Qingtong. If you do this, we can forget any of it ever happened. Fugui refuses. Instead, he begs his father to let her go. In Hongye's eyes, this just proves it. This demon has completely corrupted his son's mind.
A Son's Rebellion
This is the moment Fugui finally breaks his silence. For years, he never fought back. He never chose to be a "Weapon Human," but he accepted it. He never rebelled. All he ever wanted was for his father to listen. He wanted to explain the Way of the Sword as he understood it. But his father only ever saw a weapon. A tool for killing.
Fugui tells him that humans and demons are different. But their capacity for good is the same. He then points his sword directly at his father. He looks over at Qingtong. He asks her if they make it out of this alive, would she be willing to see the world with him. Then he drops his sword. He picks her up in his arms and walks toward the exit.
Death and Rebirth
Of course, they don't just let him leave. Quan Jingting activates a trap formation. He shouts that Fugui has to repay his debt to the Yiqi Alliance. Fugui uses his own spiritual energy as a shield against the attack. He's a tank, but he can't hold out forever. His power finally runs out.
Pierced by a Thousand Swords
Swords fly from the formation. They pierce him through the chest. He collapses. Everyone thinks he's dead. But Feng Tingyun knows the truth. He has never been more alive than he is in this moment. Then she appears. She strikes him with the Dragon Spine Sword in what looks like a final, killing blow.
The Pure Yang Flame
Something strange happens. As he's fading, Fugui hears his mother's voice. He suddenly awakens a new power, the Pure Yang Flame. The elders are stunned. He's showing signs of demonic power. The flame revitalizes him completely. He's back on his feet and stronger than ever. The elders and Quan Jingting scream to finish him off. It's useless. They are no match for him now. Fugui is about to strike down Quan Jingting for good. But his father, Hongye, blocks the blow.
A Father's Choice
Fugui stops. He looks at his father and kowtows, bowing his head to the ground. He says he is happy. He has finally found his own path. He says goodbye and turns to leave for good.
Quan Jingting and the others are not ready to give up. They move to stop him again. This time, Butler Fei and Feng Tingyun stand in their way. They remind everyone that Fugui protected Wangquan Mountain Villa. Everyone there owes him their life. He has already paid the price for his freedom by taking a thousand swords to the chest.
Hongye makes his decision. He lets him go. He declares that the Weapon Human has suffered the ultimate punishment and abandoned the Wangquan sword. The person from the prophecy cannot be him. He lets his son walk away. But as Fugui and Qingtong disappear, Hongye is left wondering if he made the right choice.
