On the Run

Fugui and Qingtong Find a Hiding Spot

So, Wangquan Fugui gets a badly injured Qingtong away from the city. He finds a remote, quiet place for them to hide out. He's hurt too, and he's still trying to process what happened. He felt a strange power from the Dragon Spine Sword during the fight. He also has no idea how Quan Jingting found out about his relationship with Qingtong.

The next day, Qingtong wakes up. She sees Fugui passed out on the floor next to her bed. She immediately tries to send him some of her spiritual energy to help him heal. But it doesn't work. His own power has grown so much that her energy just bounces off. This power surge hasn't gone unnoticed, though. The Black Fox is very interested in recruiting him.

Trouble Brewing Back Home

Hongye Cleans House

Back at the Yiqi Alliance, Quan Jingting is still trying to cause trouble. Wangquan Hongye has had enough. He orders his men to send Quan Jingting back to the Sword Tomb permanently. Hongye isn't stupid. He knows someone was secretly helping Quan Jingting stir the pot. He tells Butler Fei to keep an eye out and find where Fugui went.

A Quiet Life, For Now

Fugui is basically in a coma while his body recovers. Qingtong spends her days taking care of him. She goes into a nearby village and sells brocade that she weaves. She uses the money to buy medicine for him. For a little while, things are peaceful.

Then, Fugui finally wakes up. The Pure Yang Flame is still inside him, but he's not dying. A spiritual fire left by his mother protected his body from being destroyed. Qingtong comes back from the village to find him awake. She's so relieved she immediately cooks him a huge meal.

It's New Year's Eve. Qingtong hears the villagers are all making sweet dumplings called yuanzi. She suggests they make some together. As they're getting ready, she feels a magical barrier she set up get triggered. She knows people from her old home, the Thousand Silk Cave, have tracked her down. She decides not to tell Fugui. She wants him to have this one peaceful night.

A New Year's Celebration

The Village Festival

Qingtong and Fugui make the dumplings. She hides a coin in one for good luck, hoping he gets it. He figures it out and secretly swaps them so she ends up with the lucky one. It’s a really sweet moment.

They hear firecrackers outside and decide to go down into the village. It's called Huadeng Village. The village chief's daughter, Ma Xiaolian, sees them and is super friendly. She invites them over to her house. Everyone in the village just assumes Fugui is Qingtong's husband.

The village holds a festival every New Year's Eve to pray to the River God. An old woman asks Fugui to make a lantern and a wish. His wish is for a world without demons, where people can live freely. Qingtong makes a wish too. She wishes for Fugui to be free of his destiny as a "Weapon Human" so he can follow his own path.

An Unexpected Dance

During the ceremony, Ma Xiaolian trips and sprains her ankle. She can't perform the ritual dance. Qingtong steps in to take her place.

Fugui stands in the crowd and watches her. Seeing her dance, he has a moment of clarity. He realizes he was always going to leave his old life behind, even if he had never met Qingtong. But this journey is so much better because she's with him.
