A Few Loose Ends

This episode checks in on a few people. First, there's Quan Rumu. He's still desperately searching for Long Weiyun. The guy is in bad shape. He's coughing up blood but refuses to stop. He even buys a dangerous medicine that will destroy his meridians just to get a temporary boost. He tells the shopkeeper to spread a rumor that he's dying. He hopes this news will reach his family in the demon world. It’s a pretty desperate plan.

Then we have the Black Fox. One of its clones, a creature named Gu Kui, finds Wangquan Fugui. It tries to tempt him over to the dark side. The clone preys on his supposed hatred. But the plan fails completely. Fugui has zero hate left in his heart. He’s moved on.

A Spider's Sacrifice

Fugui and Qingtong are trying to build a new life. He even buys her some candy from the market. It’s a small, sweet moment. But Qingtong is worried. She doesn't want him going to the creek to heal anymore. She knows he’s just trying to hide his terrible wounds from her.

Their peace doesn't last long. Lady Yin shows up out of nowhere. She is here to kill both of them. She looks at Qingtong and sees nothing but a lowly spider demon. She blames them for her husband's death.

Fugui is trying to recover his strength when he senses Qingtong is in danger. Qingtong knows Fugui is still weak. She doesn't think he can beat Lady Yin. So she makes a choice. She decides to self-destruct her own demon core to stop the attack. It's a suicide move.

Fugui arrives just in time to save her. He’s not at full power, but he can still control his sacred fire. It turns out that’s more than enough. Lady Yin is completely outmatched. As she’s about to die, she clutches her husband's crown, ready to join him.

But Fugui stops. He tells her something strange. His father never killed her husband. He explains that some spiders play dead when they sense extreme danger. Her husband did just that. He isn't dead. He's just sealed away. Fugui breaks the seal, and Lady Yin realizes the truth. Her husband is alive.

She is incredibly grateful. She now sees Fugui as her savior. She promises that her home, the Thousand Silk Cave, will help him if he ever needs it. Before she leaves, she gives Qingtong her blessing. She tells her that a life with Fugui will be hard, but it will also be beautiful.

Later, Fugui asks Qingtong why she tried to sacrifice herself. He reminds her they promised to walk this path together. No matter what. They end the day watching their first sunset since leaving the mountain villa, promising to see many more.

A Coup at the Villa

While our heroes are having their moment, everything is falling apart back home. Demons have been causing chaos everywhere since Fugui left. Wangquan Hongye decides he has to handle things personally.

The leaders of the Yiqi Alliance gather at the Wangquan Mountain Villa. Quan Jingting arrives wearing a white mourning band. He claims it's for his cousin, Wangquan Zui. Then he drops a bombshell.

He accuses Wangquan Hongye of fabricating the entire Black Fox threat. He claims Hongye made it all up to seize power for himself. Hongye is furious. The mention of his beloved sister Zui pushes him over the edge. But Jingting came prepared. He uses a ritual to "prove" his claims. He makes it look like Hongye threatened his own family to gain control.

The accusation sticks. Wangquan Hongye is completely framed. He has no way to fight back without causing a civil war within the alliance. He refuses to let his people kill each other. So he and Feng Tingyun surrender their swords. They are taken away as prisoners.
