Episode 3 Recap: A New Form and a Heavy Price

So, we left off with our little spider friend in bad shape. She was seriously injured. It looked like she wasn't going to make it. Wangquan Fugui decides there's only one way to save her. He needs to use the Winged Spirit Pearl to refine her spiritual energy.

He gets to work. The spider, who we know as 12580, wakes up alive. But Wangquan Fugui looks pale. He clearly used a lot of his own power. He asks her a simple question. Does she want to become human?

Of course she does. She wants to be strong enough to protect her little brother. She begs Wangquan Fugui to save him. He tells her that's a wish she has to grant herself.

A Spider Becomes a Girl

Wangquan Fugui takes her out into the courtyard. He uses the Winged Spirit Pearl and his own spiritual force. She floats into the air. The process works. The little spider transforms into a beautiful young woman.

She names herself Qingtong. She's thrilled, touching her new face and spinning around. She isn't used to having legs yet, though. She immediately trips and falls. It's a clumsy start to her new life.

Trouble at the Villa

A Morning Challenge

Things are always tense at the Wangquan Villa. During morning practice, Quan Jingting shows up to provoke Wangquan Fugui. This was a bad idea. Wangquan Fugui puts him in his place with ease. Quan Jingting is completely humiliated. The family head, Wangquan Hongye, reminds everyone that Quan Jingting is a guest. He also brings up Quan Rumu, who was kicked out of the family years ago. It seems like there's a lot of bad blood here.

A Secret Weakness

Wangquan Fugui paid a price for helping Qingtong. He gets back to his room and coughs up blood. He's much weaker now. Qingtong comes in, excited to show him she can walk properly. He’s short with her and doesn't want to talk.

Later, another spider demon shows up. She was sent by Lady Yin. She tells Qingtong to kill Wangquan Fugui. But Qingtong is different now. She has a human form and more power. She's not afraid anymore and refuses.

A New Partnership Begins

Feng Tingyun comes to visit Wangquan Fugui. She can tell his spiritual power is drained. She asks if he’s seen the little spider demon. He lies and says no. Feng Tingyun feels a little sad. She thought the spider was interesting. But she says humans and demons can never be friends.

After she leaves, Qingtong comes out of hiding. She asks Wangquan Fugui if she looks good in her human form. He just calls her noisy. She doesn't let that stop her. She begs him to teach her how to use a sword. She wants to rescue her brother on her own. He agrees to train her.

So, the lessons begin. Qingtong trains hard every day. Her presence also starts to change Wangquan Fugui's life. It’s not so dull and gray anymore.

The First Mission Together

Ambush by the Snake Demon

The Blue Sky Conference is coming up soon. Wangquan Fugui has one last mission before they leave. He has to kill the Snake Demon King. Qingtong insists on going with him.

They find the demon. But they weren't the only ones there. Quan Rumu was following them. He chooses the perfect moment to attack Wangquan Fugui. He uses a technique that seals Wangquan Fugui's vision. Then he leaves him to be killed by the Snake Demon King.

Qingtong's Stand

The Snake Demon King moves in for the kill. Qingtong jumps in front of Wangquan Fugui to shield him. Spiders are naturally terrified of snakes. But she stands her ground. The Snake Demon King scoffs at this weak little demon protecting a human.

Just then, Wangquan Fugui recovers. He unleashes his power and kills the Snake Demon King instantly. Qingtong is so happy and excited about their first mission. But Wangquan Fugui gives her some bad news. His eyes were burned by something called "True Dragon Power." He's going to be blind for at least a month.

A World Without Sight

Quan Jingting is obviously delighted to hear Wangquan Fugui is blind. Qingtong is heartbroken. She feels like she failed to protect him. The house steward says he can travel to the conference in a carriage this time. He can finally leave his sedan chair and see the world. But nobody understands what he truly wants.

Qingtong cries. She couldn't protect the person she wanted to protect. Wangquan Fugui tells her not to worry. He asks her to be his eyes.

They get into the carriage together. She stayed up all night weaving a silk ribbon for his eyes. It matches his clothes perfectly. As they travel, she chatters away, describing everything she sees outside. The world is new to her. And for the first time, Wangquan Fugui just listens quietly, imagining the beautiful world she sees.
