Episode Summary
Fugui, possessed by a Black Fox, is manipulated into a state of pure hatred after a confrontation with a reanimated Quan Rumu. Qingtong realizes the only way to save him is to sacrifice herself, allowing him to take her "love seed." After he kills her at the Bamboo Pavilion, he travels to Tianmen Pass and breaks the great barrier.

The Black Fox's Grip Tightens
Qingtong has left Qianji City. She knows something is deeply wrong with Wangquan Fugui. Her friend Jiang Bo is worried, too. He thinks Fugui got corrupted by that nasty dragon energy during his duel with Quan Jingting.
But Qingtong isn't convinced. She points out that Fugui has handled dragon energy before without any problems. This is something different. She tells Jiang Bo to keep an eye on him and report back if he does anything strange. Then it hits her. Fugui has been possessed by a Black Fox. Now she's completely lost about what to do next.
A Ghost from the Past
Fugui is now under the Black Fox's control. His demon core is filled with the power of pure hatred. He gets a report about a large group of demons gathering outside the city. His order is simple. Kill them all.
He rides out to do the job himself. But the "demons" aren't demons at all. They are the people he grew up with, his old comrades, all controlled by the Black Fox. Then, Quan Rumu appears. He's surrounded by a dark aura, and Fugui knows instantly that it's not really him. The real Rumu is dead.
This fake Rumu starts laying into Fugui. He blames him for not being there when he needed him most. He blames him for failing to protect Long Weiyun. He screams that because of Fugui, he's now possessed by a Black Fox, unable to rest even in death. Fugui has no answer for this. He knows he owes Rumu a debt he can never repay. But he also knows this thing in front of him has to die.
He raises his sword and attacks. A nine-tailed fox spirit appears, laughing. It thinks Fugui has finally joined their side by striking down his own family. Fugui doesn't hesitate and destroys the fox spirit. The main Black Fox entity is pleased. It believes Fugui is now totally consumed by hatred. All it has to do is wait for him to break the barrier.
The Only Way Out
Qingtong figures out the key to fixing this whole mess. It's the "love seed" inside her. She has already refined its power, but she doesn't know how to use it. The only way to use its power is to give everything for the person she loves.
She goes to find Fugui. She asks him flat out if he's going to break the barrier to hunt down the Black Fox. She also asks him what she really is to him. She tells him she is willing to die, but she gets to choose the place. Her journey with Fugui has shown her the sweetness of being human. She just hopes she can eat the candy he gives her in the next life.
A Final Sunset at the Bamboo Pavilion
They go to the Huai Shui Bamboo Pavilion. They both realize how far they've come together. They had planned to walk the same path, but now their road has come to an end.
Qingtong talks about the future she wanted. She dreamed of spending every season with him and seeing the world together. But she says the sun is setting, and it's time for her to go where she needs to go. She gives him one last hug. Then she willingly lets him kill her to take the "love seed." With her last breath, she thanks him for giving her such a wonderful life.
The Barrier Is Broken
Fugui has killed Qingtong. The Black Fox is ecstatic. Fugui is now heading straight for Tianmen Pass.
Li Xueyang, Feng Tingyun, and Fan Yunfei stand in his way. They try to stop him from breaking the great barrier. It doesn't work. Fugui unleashes his ultimate technique, the Heaven and Earth Sword. He shatters the protective seal that Aolai Sanshao created.
