Qingtong's Big Gamble

A Desperate Plan

The episode kicks off with Qingtong. She says a quiet goodbye to Wangquan Fugui and just leaves. She believes this is the only way she can save him. Before she left, she drugged the incense in his room. It was just enough to knock him out for a while.

Her next stop is a meeting with Lady Yin. Qingtong puts on a big show of loyalty. She claims she also got poisoned by the "Weapon Human" she was supposed to be targeting. She says the target is super cautious. So she had to test the poison on herself first. It's a bold lie. She begs Lady Yin for the antidote. Lady Yin has the antidote, but she's not handing it over. Not until she gets confirmation that Wangquan Fugui is actually poisoned.

The Fallout at the Villa

Back at the Wangquan Mountain Villa, Feng Tingyun finds out Qingtong is a spy from Thousand Silk Cave. She immediately goes looking for her. At the same time, Wangquan Fugui wakes up. He searches the entire estate but can't find any trace of Qingtong. He starts to feel his power acting up. It's draining away.

Feng Tingyun finds him and realizes his inner power is disappearing. She is furious. Wangquan Fugui admits he knew about Qingtong all along. He tells Feng Tingyun to back off. This is his business.

Villains and Their Motives

Lady Yin's Revenge

We finally get the backstory on Lady Yin. She despises the Wangquan family. They killed the person she loved many years ago. Her entire plan is about revenge. She wants Wangquan Hongye to feel the same pain she did. The pain of losing someone you love most.

The Sword Tomb Conspiracy

Then we cut to Quan Jingting. He's the guy guarding the Sword Tomb. He's not happy with his post. A flashback reveals his backstory. He was exiled to the Western Regions but never gave up his ambition. He was left for dead in a Wangquan house. That's when the Black Fox Grand Duke appeared. The fox spirit tempted him to join the Black Fox Lady. He was told he could get true dragon power. He just needed to find the Dragon Scales and the Dragon Pill.

Quan Jingting has been searching for a long time. He only found a single inner pill, which he's kept hidden. He also learned the Wangquan family killed a dragon. They sealed it within the Sword Tomb. That's why he volunteered to guard this place. The only thing he didn't count on was Wangquan Fugui giving up all his cultivation and power. It ruined his original plan.

The Confrontation

Fugui Makes His Move

Wangquan Fugui is too weak to remove the "Seven Regrets" poison by himself. But he's smart. He guesses that Lady Yin must be threatening Qingtong. He decides to go to White Mist Mountain to confront her. Inside his transport carriage, he finds a small star charm Qingtong left for him. It's a message. She wants his future to be bright, like the stars.

Lady Yin gives Qingtong the antidote. But she still refuses to release Qingtong's younger brother. This is her final piece of leverage.

Escape from Thousand Silk Cave

Qingtong wakes up and sees her brother. She names him Qingcheng. She's ready to get them both out of there. She transfers half of the inner power she took from Fugui into her brother. This gives him strength. When Lady Yin finds out they escaped, she's angry. But her focus shifts. Wangquan Fugui has arrived at White Mist Mountain. She rushes off to fight him.

Wangquan Fugui is relieved to hear Qingtong and her brother got away. Even though he's poisoned, he's still more than a match for Lady Yin. The fight is short. He easily overpowers her. She barely escapes with her life.

A Painful Reunion

The Return

Qingtong and Qingcheng escape Thousand Silk Cave. Her brother finally takes on a human form. Qingtong gives him all the valuables she's saved over the years. She tells him to go to a place called Deer Village and start a new life. She still has something she needs to do.

Qingcheng doesn't want her to go. He doesn't think she should give the antidote to Wangquan Fugui. He remembers how the Yiqi Alliance members used to torture them for fun. Qingtong explains that some demons are good and some are bad. It's the same with humans.

Misunderstanding and a Sword

Qingtong makes it back to the Wangquan Mountain Villa. Feng Tingyun sees her and immediately attacks. She thinks Qingtong is there to finish off Fugui. She hits Qingtong with a powerful talisman. Qingtong is badly injured. But she says she'll die right there if she has to. She just needs to get the antidote to him.

Feng Tingyun is about to deliver a killing blow. Wangquan Fugui's sword flies out and stops her. He has arrived. Feng Tingyun is heartbroken. She can't understand why he would protect a spider demon, especially now. Humans and demons can't be together.

Qingtong pulls out the antidote. Wangquan Fugui asks her why she didn't just tell him Lady Yin was threatening her. She watches him take the medicine. Then she finally collapses. Quan Rumu rushes in. Fugui asks for his help to drive out the remaining (Gu) poison.

The episode ends on a dark note. The Black Fox Lady knows Wangquan Fugui now has a weakness. She has already placed four of her clones in the area, ready to strike.

This episode was all about sacrifice and consequences. Qingtong gave up everything to save Fugui, who in turn risked his life for her. Their bond is solid, but it's also made him a target.
