The Confrontation We All Saw Coming
Feng Tingyun's Ultimatum
So, Feng Tingyun finally cornered Qingtong. She was not playing around. She basically gave her two options. Die by her sword or get out of town. Simple as that.
Qingtong, though, says she can't leave yet. She claims she still has unfinished business. She tells Feng Tingyun that she took poison herself to get the antidote for Wangquan Fugui. She wants to go to the Huai Shui Bamboo Pavilion. She plans to embroider a picture of the real place for him. She's clearly banking on Feng Tingyun having a soft spot.
A Misunderstanding and a Hard Truth
Here's the thing. Feng Tingyun checks Qingtong's energy. She can tell it's drained. But she also realizes the poison is completely gone from Qingtong's system. This makes her think Qingtong is just putting on an act. She tries to scare her, saying she only has three days to live.
Feng Tingyun eventually loses her patience. She tells Qingtong to stop the fake act. The poison is gone. She says that if Qingtong stays, she will only ruin Wangquan Fugui. You can tell Feng Tingyun is conflicted, though. She admits that Fugui has been smiling more lately. She's not sure if driving Qingtong away is the right move.
Later, Feng Tingyun meets with Fugui privately. She just comes right out and asks him. Does he like Qingtong? He doesn't give a straight answer. He just says he will handle his own problems. He also tells her he never worries about her snitching. He says her sword style is free, just like her spirit. This seems to be enough for Feng Tingyun. She decides not to tell on him.
Fugui's Shifting Worldview
A Father's Disappointment
Qingtong figures out that Fugui didn't take the antidote. He gave it to her instead. He confirms it and tells her she did a great job handling the situation alone.
Then his father, Wangquan Hongye, shows up. He's angry. Fugui attacked the Thousand Silk Cave without any orders. There are rumors that the "Weapon Human" is trying to win over the lesser demons there. Fugui pushes back. He says most of the demons in the cave haven't done anything wrong. He argues that demons can be good or evil, just like people. They also deserve a chance to live.
Wangquan Hongye then takes Fugui to his mother's grave. Fugui proves he hasn't gotten weaker. But he also admits he doesn't want to disappoint his mother's memory.
The Painful Decision
Quan Rumu finds Fugui. He tells him Qingtong waited for him all day and is now in the kitchen. He asks about their situation. Fugui says he wants Qingtong to find her own path. He doesn't want her just waiting around for him. Quan Rumu gets it. But he also reminds Fugui of his duty. He's the Yiqi Alliance's "Weapon Human," their ultimate warrior. He can't get lost in romance.
Qingtong overhears Fugui saying he wants to send her away. She's crushed. She believes humans and demons can coexist. She just wants to find a place where that's possible.
A Glimmer of Hope (and a New Mission)
Quan Rumu's Story
Quan Rumu decides to tell Fugui a story from his own past. It’s about him and a dragon demon named Long Weiyun. A man named Quan Jingting was killing a lot of dragons. So, Long Weiyun kidnapped Quan Rumu.
But Quan Rumu wasn't scared. He was actually excited. His own family didn't seem to care about him. Long Weiyun took him with her when she escaped. She took care of him whenever he had his asthma attacks. They eventually got separated. But he’s determined to find her again. Before he leaves, he gives Fugui some advice. He says the only impossible things are the limits you place on yourself.
The Road to Peach Blossom Dock
Butler Fei's investigation paid off. He found a village where humans and demons live together. It's called Peach Blossom Dock, on Dingling Mountain. The village leader is a guy named Zhang Qi. He's also the head of the Black Sword Zhang family.
Zhang Qi is in love with a demon named Qing Li. He's planning to step down as family head so they can be together. Butler Fei also discovered that the evil medicine from before came from this village. So, Fugui gets a new mission. He has to go to Peach Blossom Dock and bring Zhang Qi back. It’s a sensitive job because Zhang Qi's father was a good friend of Fugui's dad.
Fugui asks Qingtong what her plans are. She admits she doesn't have any. So, he invites her to come with him on his mission.
A Shocking Final Scene
Before they leave, Qingtong gives Feng Tingyun a handmade outfit as a gift. Feng Tingyun is still prickly, but you can tell she's moved. Qingtong explains she has to leave. She knows staying is just a problem for Fugui. Feng Tingyun says it's a shame. She wishes Qingtong wasn't a demon.
Then we cut to the final scene. It's a big one. Quan Jingting kills his own guard, Quan Li. He uses the man's blood to perform a ritual with his sword. He then infuses himself with the power of a Black Fox. He has become half-human and half-demon. What a way to end it.
