Episode Summary
In this episode, Xun Weilai tries to fix the timeline by setting up Zhao Zuoyou with Wang Yiman. He orchestrates a romantic New Year's Eve plan involving a stolen snow machine. The plan backfires spectacularly, leading to a chain reaction of heartbreak. Wang Yiman thinks Xun Weilai likes her, Zhao Zuoyou thinks Xun Weilai betrayed him, and Xu Tutu realizes Zhao Zuoyou will never like her back. In the end, everyone is miserable, but Xun Weilai successfully resets his own timeline.

Xu Tutu's Big Save
The episode kicks off with some serious drama. Zhao Zuoyou is messing around near the lake and the ice cracks. He falls in. It looks bad. He's panicking and trying to get out.
Luckily, Xu Tutu is right there. She doesn't hesitate. She tells him to lie flat on the ice to distribute his weight. Then she throws him a flotation ring and pulls him to safety. She totally saves his life. Zhao Zuoyou is incredibly grateful. He tells her he owes her big time. If she ever needs anything, he's her guy. This feels important.
Xun Weilai's Deadline
We cut to Xun Weilai waking up. Zhao Donglai and Zhao Zuoyou are watching over him. We learn what happened last night. Xun Weilai just collapsed on the street. Zhao Donglai found him and brought him home.
Then Xun Weilai gets some bad news. He checks his time-travel watch, or whatever it is. He realizes he messed with the timeline too much. Now he only has 35 hours left. He's going to be forcibly recalled to his own time. This sends him into a panic.
He rushes to a phone booth where Zhao Liao is. Zhao Liao has a high fever but he's on the phone reporting to "Life Customer Service." Xun Weilai interrupts him. He desperately asks if the travel limit is only half a year. Zhao Liao is pretty chill about the whole thing. We find out he actually has a one-year travel record. His whole mission was to stop Xun Weilai from changing fate. Since that's basically done, he doesn't really care when he gets sent back.
The New Year's Eve Heist
Operation: Romantic Snow
Zhao Zuoyou is scrolling through some posts online. He discovers this year is a meteor shower year. This gives Xun Weilai an idea. He pushes Zhao Zuoyou to ask Wang Yiman to watch the meteor shower with him on New Year's Eve.
Zhao Zuoyou is totally on board. He's been wanting to give a pen back to her anyway. It's the perfect excuse. But Xun Weilai knows Zuoyou can be awkward. He doesn't want him to screw it up.
So, to make the night perfect, they come up with a plan. They decide to steal the school's snow machine. Yes, you read that right. They steal a snow machine to create a romantic, snowy scene by the lake.
Rehearsal for a Confession
Xun Weilai even coaches Zhao Zuoyou. He runs him through drills for the big night. He's determined to make this happen for his friend. Later, they're by the lake with the stolen machine. Xun Weilai gives Zuoyou a serious talk. He tells him he absolutely must return the machine after he's done.
Meanwhile, it's almost the Lunar New Year. Wang Yiman's house is full of relatives. Yiman is a bit of a neat freak. Her little cousin makes a huge mess in the bathroom. She wants to lecture him but her mom is there, so she bites her tongue. Later, Xun Weilai finds her. He tells her he's leaving tomorrow. He asks if she'll spend New Year's Eve with him. She seems torn and doesn't give a clear answer.
Everything Goes Wrong
A Web of Misunderstandings
The night arrives and it's a total train wreck for everyone.
Xu Tutu's mom has to work on New Year's Eve. She just wants to earn enough to give Tutu a good life. Tutu is home alone and bored. She sees the same post about the meteor shower and gets an idea. She grabs a gift and heads over to Zhao Zuoyou's house. But just as she gets there, she sees him rushing out the door. She's left standing there, completely crushed.
At Wang Yiman's house, she's just picking at her food during dinner. She keeps glancing at the clock. She's clearly waiting for the time she's supposed to meet Xun Weilai. She fakes being sick and escapes to her room. She even tries to climb out her window, but her mom catches her in the act.
Xun Weilai Breaks Yiman's Heart (On Purpose)
Xun Weilai is at the lake setting up the snow machine. His plan is ruined by a forest ranger doing a fire inspection. The ranger tells him he has to leave. Xun Weilai refuses. He knows he has to fix the timeline. He actually gets into a fight with the ranger to stay.
Just then, Wang Yiman shows up. She sees the snow machine and gets the wrong idea. She thinks this is all for her. She assumes Xun Weilai is about to confess his love. She's about to tell him how she feels.
But Xun Weilai stops her. He has to put things back the way they were. He yells at her. He's incredibly harsh and tells her to get lost. It's brutal to watch.
Of course, Zhao Zuoyou arrives just in time to see this. He sees the girl he likes and the guy he thought was his friend in what looks like a romantic moment. Then he watches Xun Weilai cruelly reject her. He's heartbroken and just turns and walks away.
And to make it a four-person tragedy, Xu Tutu is hiding in the dark. She sees the whole thing. She watches Zhao Zuoyou's reaction and finally understands. He's in love with Wang Yiman, not her. She breaks down crying.
It's a complete disaster. But it works. Because fate has been restored, Xun Weilai's recall timer resets. He's not going home in 35 hours anymore. His departure is now scheduled for "next year."
