The Wife Arrives

So, just when you thought things couldn't get more complicated, they did. Xun Weilai’s wife, Shu Tu, just dropped into the past. And she is not happy.

She materializes right as a heartbroken Xu Tutu is crying in the woods. Shu Tu's first move isn't to ask what's wrong. It's to scold Xu Tutu for crying. She then follows her home, makes herself comfortable, and tells Xu Tutu to stop slouching. Xu Tutu is completely baffled by this strange woman. But she listens to her anyway. Shu Tu asks if Xu Tutu has seen a man in his forties. When the answer is no, she storms out, furious. She's on a mission to find her husband and walks right past his comic book shop without even seeing it.

The Real Reason for Time Travel

You're probably wondering why Shu Tu is even here. Well, we finally get her side of the story.

Back in 2035, she and Xun Weilai were on the verge of divorce. She sent him a text about it, and then he just vanished. Poof. Gone. She went straight to the "Life Company," the agency that sent him back in time. She demanded they recall him. They told her there were no refunds.

The Life Company's Mess

This is where it gets good. Shu Tu threw a fit. She threatened to sue the company for tampering with human memory. Her outburst was so disruptive that the company had to pause Xun Weilai's "data test" in the past. That pause is what caused him to faint a few episodes back. The company felt bad about the whole thing. So they offered her a deal. They would send her back to convince Xun Weilai to return. If she succeeded, the company wouldn't be in breach of their contract.

A Desperate Plan

Shu Tu’s search for Xun Weilai is a mess. She shows up at Zhao Zuoyou's house. She pretends to be a coworker of his mom's. She snoops around the apartment, looking for any sign of her husband. She finds nothing. She then grills Zhao Zuoyou about any strange 40-year-old men he's seen. He has no idea what she's talking about. She gets angry and tells him to pass a message to "Mr. Zhao."

Her plans get even more unhinged. She tricks Xun Weilai into meeting her by a lake. She steals Zhao Zuoyou's phone and sends Xun Weilai a fake SOS message. He thinks she's trying to kidnap his younger self and take him to the future. He rushes to the lake. As soon as he arrives, Shu Tu grabs him. She holds on tight, trying to force the system to take them both back to 2035.

The Truth Comes Out

This is where it all boils over. Shu Tu doesn't understand why he's risking his life to change the past. She asks him what she did that was so terrible it made him hate her.

Xun Weilai finally tells her the truth. He couldn't handle the pressure of their massive mortgage. He also couldn't deal with her constantly bringing up divorce. It wore him down completely. He tells her, with no hesitation, that he wants a divorce now. Shu Tu is left alone, crying by the lake. Xu Tutu shows up with an umbrella to comfort her.

Wild Theories and Sad Phone Calls

The fallout from this is both sad and kind of hilarious.

Zhao Zuoyou goes to the comic shop with a theory. He thinks Xun Weilai must have borrowed money from a loan shark, and Shu Tu is the debt collector. Putting all the pieces together incorrectly, he concludes that Xun Weilai must be his father's secret illegitimate son. That would make Shu Tu the other woman. Xun Weilai is just speechless. He doesn't even know how to begin explaining that one.

Later, Xu Tutu takes the distraught Shu Tu back to her place. That night, Zhao Liao calls. He pretends to be a repairman to get a chance to talk to Xu Tutu. Shu Tu worries it's a scam and takes the phone. Zhao Liao hears her voice. It's the voice of his wife, who has been gone for years. He gets completely overwhelmed with emotion on the other end of the line.
