Spoiler Alert
Yu Yingfei has some bad news. He says Yam Sai-hung left a suicide note before he disappeared. If Kang Jin Po keeps applying pressure, he might actually kill himself. Their audio recording alone isn't strong enough evidence. Man feels trapped. She makes the call to kill the story.
Of course, the Kang Jin Po boss immediately goes on Cathy's livestream. He plays the victim card for everyone to see. He even uses the airtime to promote his products. It's shameless. Back at Open Platform, Cheung Ka-yin tells her team to drop the story, too. You can see she's starting to side with Man on this. She understands the impossible position Man is in.
Politics and Public Humiliation
Over at the government news office, things are also heating up. Open Platform gets disqualified from the running for a spot at the government complex. The official reason is the complaints they received over the Kang Jin Po story. Hui Sze-ching speaks up. She argues they shouldn't jump to conclusions before all the facts are out. The minister actually agrees with her. This just makes her rival, Chan Kai-fung, even more jealous.
The next day is brutal. Cathy brings Yam Sai-hung's mother to the Open Platform office. They ambush Man Wai-sam in the lobby. The mother accuses Man of putting too much pressure on her son. Then she straight up slaps Man across the face. After that, netizens start flooding the Open Platform homepage with attacks. Man has no idea what to do.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Fong invites Yu Yingfei over for a game of mahjong. This isn't a friendly visit. She knows he's helping Man. Mrs. Fong makes her position crystal clear. When their two companies go head-to-head in the future, she will not hold back. He just smiles and agrees.
A Body Is Found
Lau Yim decides to do some digging on her own. She tries to buy the red yeast rice capsules directly from the company. It goes badly. Some guys try to drag her into an unmarked car. Luckily, Ma Ka-ming shows up just in time to save her. The close call makes Lau Yim think she's on the right track. If they tried to grab her, Yam Sai-hung might be in even greater danger.
Then we get the news. An urban explorer found a body while filming a video. It's Yam Sai-hung. He hanged himself. His body has been there for a while. Man is completely wrecked when she hears about it.
Lau Yim drives her home. But Cathy is waiting for them with a pack of reporters. Man insists Yam Sai-hung's death has nothing to do with her. Cathy then pulls out a copy of his suicide note. The note says he killed himself because of the pressure from Man. Cathy tries to whip the crowd up. She demands Man get on her knees and apologize. Man just ignores her and walks away.
Later, at home, Man thinks back on her meetings with Yam Sai-hung. The pieces don't fit. She realizes he wasn't the type to commit suicide. She also notices a pattern. Every time there's a hint of trouble, Cathy is always the first person on the scene, soaking up the attention.
The George King Investigation Heats Up
The government news office announces the media outlets that got a spot in the new complex. Star Network made the cut.
At SNTV, the tech guy, Siu Tin, has a new AI program. It flags some weird accounting in the equipment department. This gives Cheung Ka-yin an idea. She follows the department head, Kau Gor. She catches him secretly selling off company equipment.
She now has leverage. She blackmails him for the truth about George King's death.
Kau Gor spills a shocking story. He says back during that big summer storm, the big boss, Ko Shiu-wah, gave an ultimatum. He told the two assistant directors that only one of them would keep their job. If they couldn't figure it out, one of them should just "accidentally" drown. Kau Gor also adds that George King specifically told the crew to bring every piece of equipment to the scene that day.
Ka-yin doesn't fully trust his story. She tells him to keep quiet for now. They will investigate this together.
But Ko Shiu-wah is already one step ahead. He uses AI to create a deepfake of George King. He brings George's elderly parents into the studio for a fake reunion with their "son." He uses this sick, emotional display to convince them to stop looking into the drowning.
Ka-yin suspects Kau Gor sold her out. He swears he didn't. He says Ko Shiu-wah has too much dirt on him. But after Ka-yin leaves, we see Ko Shiu-wah hand Kau Gor a check for 100,000 dollars.
