The Final Report

The episode kicks off with a massive rainstorm. George is on air for SNTV, doing his usual prime-time thing. But then Cathy sends in a video from her phone. A nearby underground mall is flooding fast. The director, Ivan, immediately cuts away from George and puts Cathy's raw footage on screen.

George is furious. He's been upstaged on his own show. Ivan tells him to find a better story if he wants the airtime back. So, George gets on the phone with Sze-ching. He needs to find the source of the flooding. He's determined to get an exclusive and put Cathy in her place.

This leads him and his cameraman, Kau Gor, to Lion Rock. The area is clearly dangerous. Kau Gor tries to talk him out of it. He tells George it isn't worth the risk. But George isn't listening. He's completely fixated on winning. He does his live report from the flooded area. Even after that, he pushes Kau Gor to keep filming. He needs more footage to beat Cathy's mall story.

Trapped Underground

While George is chasing his story, Cathy is living a nightmare. She's trapped in that same underground mall with a few shopkeepers. The water is rising steadily. It's getting serious. One of the men, completely terrified, asks Cathy to record a last will and testament for him on her phone. The despair is real. Soon, others are asking to do the same. Just as they're all losing hope, firefighters smash through and rescue them.

The Hearing Changes Everything

We jump forward in time to a formal hearing about George's death. Ivan is on the stand. He denies ever putting out a call for citizen journalists to find some missing kids near the flood zone. He claims he never offered a cash reward, even though the message went out through SNK's channels.

After the session, Cathy's old colleagues can't believe she spoke up for George. They pull her aside. They tell her that Ivan gave Kau Gor a special promotion right after George died. They also point out that Ivan personally edited the memorial video for George. Nobody has ever seen the original, unedited footage. Cathy tells them she already knows all of this. She says there's not much they can do right now except wait.

A Memory and a Video

Man Wai-sam is trying to piece things together herself. She goes to a hypnotherapist to unlock her memories of that day. Under hypnosis, she finally remembers something. She saw George. He had found the missing kids. But before she could even speak, a massive wave of water hit her. She was knocked unconscious and lost that piece of her memory.

Back in court, Ivan's plan is falling apart. His key witness, Lam Yuk, is a no-show. Fei had tried to convince him to testify but failed. She did, however, manage to destroy his phone. This means Ivan can't contact him either.

So Ivan plays his trump card. He presents a new piece of evidence. It's the unedited video from Kau Gor's camera. The footage shows George's last moments. He's talking to himself, rambling about how he has to beat Cathy. He then sees the kids in danger and dives into the raging water to save them. He manages to get them to safety, but another flash flood hits and sweeps him away.

This video completely contradicts what Man Wai-sam remembered. Now, she looks like she might have misled the investigation.

The Fallout

The hearing ends. Cathy is just gutted. She's overwhelmed with guilt. Man Wai-sam is questioning her own mind. As she leaves the court, reporters swarm her. They ask if she should be held responsible for what happened.

Later, Cathy and Sze-ching visit George's grave. The truth is out now. Cathy realizes her own competitive drive was the fuel for George's recklessness. Her push to reopen the investigation didn't bring justice. It just dragged his reputation through the mud. In a twisted way, Ivan was the one who ultimately brought the real story to light. Sze-ching tells her not to blame herself.

The episode closes with Man Wai-sam. She goes back to her therapist, Dr. Yeung. She is desperate to try hypnosis again. She has to know what she really saw. The doctor tells her the first step is to let go and find peace with herself.
