Man Wai Sum Makes Her Own News

The episode kicks off with Man Wai Sum walking into the newsroom. She wants an update on Leung King Yan's death investigation. Cathy Hui is there. She tells her the investigation committee is gone. She also says Man Wai Sum is asking as a private citizen. So, the news department doesn't have to answer her. It's a cold shutdown.

Then, a major story breaks. A building collapsed. Man Wai Sum doesn't waste a second. She rents a private helicopter. She flies directly over the disaster zone to broadcast live. Her personal social media platform blows up with traffic. Cathy's sister sees this. She immediately calls the police to get the helicopter out of there.

Man Wai Sum gets the order to leave. But before she does, she spots something important. A water tank on the building next door has a huge crack. She quickly sends a text to Lau Yim.

An Explosion and a Rescue

Lau Yim gets the message. She runs into the threatened building. She finds the water tank. She also discovers a gas leak. The whole place could explode at any moment. She reports it to the fire department. Then she starts evacuating all the residents herself. Just a few minutes later, the building explodes.

Man Wai Sum feels the shockwave from her helicopter. The live feed from the ground cuts out. Chan Tsz Kit was watching the whole thing. He was loving the viewer numbers. Then he heard the explosion and started to worry.

After a while, the scene calms down. SNK News reports to all of Hong Kong that nobody was killed or injured. Chan Tsz Kit can finally breathe again.

Meanwhile, Cheung Ka Yin is on the scene. She spots someone trapped in the rubble from a rooftop. She rushes down to help. The fire department arrives just in time to pull the person out. Ka Yin tells another reporter to handle the live broadcast. She goes with the injured person to the hospital.

The Bidding War for the Footage

George Kut calls Man Wai Sum's phone. He wants to buy her exclusive footage from the helicopter. Chan Tsz Kit answers. He tells George they should trade for it at market price. George is not happy with that answer. He immediately orders his team to start a smear campaign against Man Wai Sum.

As soon as Man Wai Sum's helicopter lands, the police are there. They take her into custody.

At the hospital, Cheung Ka Yin interviews a survivor. She learns something big. The building collapse wasn't because of bad construction. Someone had intentionally ordered a load-bearing wall to be removed.

Back at SNK, people are talking about Ka Yin's work. Ivan Poonmakes a snide comment. He basically calls her a cheap copycat of Man Wai Sum. Ka Yin is angry but says nothing. She's just getting more and more disappointed with her company.

Lau Yim is still at the collapse site. She's trying to find a good angle for a live shot. She knows no one is watching her feed, though. She starts thinking about getting the video from Man Wai Sum. A colleague tells her to forget it. Every media outlet in the city wants that footage. But Lau Yim thinks Man Wai Sum is trying to send a message to SNK. She believes she might have a shot.

Deals and Betrayals

Man Wai Sum finally gets her phone back. It's full of missed calls. Chan Tsz Kit asks her who she plans to give the video to. She doesn't tell him.

George Kut has a meeting with Mrs. Fong. Mrs. Fong wants Man Wai Sum's video. She's willing to pay a very high price for it. George thinks it's a waste of money. But Mrs. Fong insists. So, George agrees to try and get it.

Cathy Hui is in some trouble. She's getting complaints for shooting down a drone. The government's press office also wants her to meet with Man Wai Sum. They want to pretend they're trying to recruit her. Cathy has to do it. The meeting between them is surprisingly relaxed. They both know what's really going on. It feels more like two old friends catching up.

George invites Man Wai Sum to the SNK office to talk. He tells her he wants two things. He wants the video. He also wants her to come back to SNK. Man Wai Sum gives him her condition. If she comes back, her job title has to be higher than his. George, of course, says no.

Later, Lau Yim finds Man Wai Sum at a car repair shop. Man Wai Sum is completely dismissive. She tells Lau Yim that passion is not enough. Lau Yim can't afford the high cost of the footage. She can't expect a handout just because she's eager.

George finds out that Cheung Ka Yin interviewed a construction worker. He demands that she hand over that interview footage.

Ka Yin gathers her team. They're ready to start investigating the demolished load-bearing wall. George walks in and stops them. He announces that he bought the exclusive helicopter video from Man Wai Sum. He tells Ka Yin to drop her investigation. Her new job is to prepare for the next live broadcast using Man Wai Sum's footage.
