Episode Summary

The Hong Kong Professional News Awards become a battleground. Man Wai-sam handles a medical emergency for Mrs. Fong, who is revealed to be sick. Man then upstages SNK at the ceremony. Later, Mrs. Fong offers to give her control of the entire network to oust Koo Chiu-wah. As rumors about Mrs. Fong's health spread, George confronts her and grows suspicious of Man's involvement. A Night at the News Awards

The whole crew showed up for the Hong Kong Professional News Awards. It was a real who's who of the news world. You had Cheung Ka-yin and Hui Sze-ching there. Koo Chiu-wah was leading his team from SNK News. Man Wai-sam, of course, was there with her people from All News. Even Pak Shu-wan finally made an appearance to shut down all the gossip about her. And you know Kelly Tang wasn't going to miss a big media event.

Someone asked Cathy if she'd found a new job yet. She was about to fire back. But Hilary pulled her aside. She told her it was better to just stay quiet.

A Dose of Reality for Hilary

Hilary went back to the office to grab some business cards. A maintenance guy saw her. He gave her some surprisingly good advice. He said in a big company, you don't need to run around promoting yourself. Rumors die on their own. If you just stick around long enough, you'll get promoted. This really hit home for Hilary. She decided to just stay in the office and help the guy with some wiring instead of going back to the party.

Man Handles a Crisis

The awards ceremony was about to start. A waiter pulled Man aside. He needed her help in a private lounge. Inside, Mrs. Fong was on the floor, convulsing. It was bad. Pak Shu-wan was there and told Man the truth. The rumor about a female tycoon having cancer wasn't about her. It was about Mrs. Fong.

Mrs. Fong didn't want anyone to know. She was terrified the SNK stock price would crash. She said she only trusted Man. So Man took control. She told the waiter to call Mrs. Fong's private doctor. Then she went back to the ceremony to keep up appearances.

The first award of the night went to SNK's new AI news anchor. They called Mrs. Fong's name to accept it. She was still in the lounge. The stage was empty.

Then Man just walked right up there. She announced that since SNK used her likeness for the AI, she had the right to accept the award. It was a bold move. While this was happening, Cathy walked over to a junior staffer named Siu Tin. She pointed out that the real work on the AI was done by outsourced employees, not the in-house team.

Later, Mrs. Fong returned after getting a painkiller injection. She looked shaky but she was there. The next big award was for Best Anchor. Man won it. Again. During her speech, she gave a special thanks to her mentor, Mrs. Fong. She even invited Mrs. Fong to join her on stage.

The Queen's Gambit

After the awards, Man went with Mrs. Fong to the SNK offices. Mrs. Fong got very sentimental. She talked about starting the network with her husband. She felt like she'd lived her whole life but had nothing to show for it. Everyone just remembered her as Mr. Fong's wife.

She admitted that's why she hired Koo Chiu-wah after Yu Ying-fei left. She wanted to prove her own value. But the plan backfired. George now has her completely boxed in.

Her cancer diagnosis changed her perspective on everything. Standing in the studio with Man, she made an incredible offer. She wanted to give SNK to Man. She told Man to get rid of George and bring real journalism back to the network. Man was hesitant. She said she's a journalist, not a CEO. She also warned that any sudden move would give George the perfect excuse to cause chaos.

Rumors and Confrontations

Pak Shu-wan did an interview with All News. She officially put the cancer rumors about herself to rest. This just redirected all the speculation. Kelly Tang saw her chance. She went live on her phone right outside the SNK building. She heavily implied that Mrs. Fong was the one who was sick.

The internet blew up. SNK had to say something. George texted Hazel and demanded to know what proof she had. She was evasive. He sent her a clear threat. If he went down for this, he would take her with him.

With everyone at SNK waiting for a decision, George had no choice. He went to confront Mrs. Fong himself. He asked her directly if she was sick. She didn't deny it. Her silence was a confirmation. A colleague also told George that Man had visited SNK recently. He asked Mrs. Fong about that, too. She claimed they were just catching up. But George is always looking for an angle. A Final Warning

Man was heading home from work. Suddenly, Yuen Suet-kuen appeared. Yuen handed her a USB drive. She told Man that she was being monitored. She also warned Man to stop digging into the Tung Chi-ching case. The next morning, Man walked into the office. The first thing she did was order her team to pull every single report about Yuen Suet-kuen and the Torch Award.
