The AI Aftermath

A Win for Man Wai-sam

So, that AI news anchor Chan Kai-fung built? It blew up. The servers for "Little News" crashed from too much traffic. SNK News's stock immediately tanked by thirty percent. The whole situation exposed a ton of problems with using AI in news.

This was the perfect opening for Man Wai-sam. She jumped on the opportunity. She started pushing for new laws to regulate artificial intelligence. It was a brilliant move. She turned a potential disaster into a huge personal victory.

SNK News took a hit on the stock market. But their influence is still massive. Koo Chiu-wah isn't backing down from AI. He tells the team to keep developing it. Their new plan is to pair a real human anchor with an AI one. And guess whose face they're still using for the AI? Yep. Man Wai-sam's.

Her team at the public platform is furious for her. They think it's completely unfair. Man Wai-sam, though, isn't bothered. She explains that a top-tier journalist has inherent value. You can't just copy or imitate that. It's not a long-term strategy.

Financial Fallout

Someone named Siu Lau suddenly dumps a massive amount of stock. Don Yiu-shun gets hit hard and loses a lot of money. He finds Siu Lau on a yacht to confront him. Siu Lau just laughs at him. He calls him a third-rate finance guy who can't read the room.

Koo Chiu-wah shows up soon after. He tells Kelly Tang to keep running her finance channel. He wants her to use her grudge against Man Wai-sam to get views. His real goal is to use her channel to smear Man Wai-sam's reputation. While they're scheming, someone runs up to them. A model named Lam Bo-la has fallen into the water and died.

A New Case Drops

The Yacht Party Problem

The police get involved immediately. Everyone who was on the yacht gets taken in for questioning. The problem is, nobody actually saw Lam Bo-la fall overboard.

Koo Chiu-wah returns to the office and puts on a show. He says the innocent have nothing to fear. He claims he'll fully support the police investigation. Cheung Ka-yin, who never backs down from a fight, actually agrees with him for once. Man Wai-sam also decides her team will cover the story.

Lau Yim thinks it's a waste of time. She sees it as just another influencer's death with no real news value. But Man Wai-sam smells something fishy. She points out that Lam Bo-la's mother didn't call the police right away. That's suspicious. Hazel does some digging. Lam Bo-la started her social media career as a positive, upbeat personality. But six months ago, she created a new account. She switched to a sexy image and promoted plastic surgery ads. This got her a lot of traffic. At the same time, she was posting sad, personal things late at night.

The Investigation Begins

Lau Yim re-watches the yacht videos. She notices the time of the recording doesn't match the time of the police report. Other influencers are already trying to profit from the death. Kelly Tang posts a tearful video mourning Lam Bo-la, even though they barely knew each other.

Back at the office, Cheung Ka-yin makes a move. She goes to Mrs. Fong. She suggests that Koo Chiu-wah should take a temporary leave of absence during the yacht investigation. Before Mrs. Fong can answer, George walks in. He "volunteers" to take a two-week vacation to avoid any appearance of a conflict. Ka-yin looks a little embarrassed that he beat her to it.

Man vs. Man

The Setup

Man Wai-sam goes straight to the source. She finds Lam Bo-la's mother at her nail salon. She doesn't waste time and asks directly about her daughter's death. The mother's attitude completely changes from her previous public statements. She says she has accepted her daughter's death as an accident. She asks not to be bothered again.

Man Wai-sam tries to press for more details. The mother suddenly drops to her knees. She starts begging and bowing her head, pleading to be left alone. Man Wai-sam then notices a woman nearby recording the whole thing on her phone. She realizes she's been set up.

Sure enough, Kelly Tang 's finance channel posts the video. They paint Man Wai-sam as a vulture preying on a grieving mother. The public platform is flooded with angry messages. Man Wai-sam's response is simple. The fact that they're trying to discredit her means she's on the right track.

The Plot Thickens

Cheung Ka-yin becomes the acting CEO. She moves into Koo Chiu-wah's office. She immediately starts digging into George Leung's death. She discovers he was absent from work for several days during the major storm. The office manager only knows that George approved his absence. He doesn't have any more details.

Then, something strange happens. Lam Bo-la's social media account is suddenly updated. A new post claims she was murdered. It asks for help finding the killer.

The Truth Starts to Surface

At the exact same time, Koo Chiu-wah is meeting with Lam Bo-la's mother. He's looking at her phone's call history. Lau Yim calls him for an interview about the new social media post. The mother panics. She tries to explain herself to George. Another man, Mr. Lau, urges George to handle the situation quickly.

The mother then appears on Kelly Tang 's live stream. She cries and says the autopsy found amphetamines in her daughter's system. She blames herself for being a bad mother. She begs the public to stop talking about the case.

Man Wai-sam interviews Koo Chiu-wah. She asks him about giving a large sum of money to the mother. George claims he was just giving condolences on behalf of Mr. Lau. Mr. Lau then arrives. He says the yacht's surveillance footage will prove his innocence.

Back at the office, Lau Yim finds something interesting. All the influencers pushing the same narrative online are represented by the same talent agency. This gives Man Wai-sam an idea. She decides to look for an influencer from that agency who hasn'tbeen posting about the case. She finds one named Ko Man-lei.

Man Wai-sam meets with her. Ko Man-lei spills everything. She says Lam Bo-la and her mother had a terrible relationship. The mother is a compulsive gambler with huge debts. Lam Bo-la even sold her car to help pay them off. She also reveals that Lam Bo-la was taking antidepressants.
