Spoiler Alert

The Truth About Bella Lam

Man's Final Move

So, the show finally wraps up the Bella Lam story. Open Platform gets a tip from Gao Manli. They immediately clarify that Bella's medication was for depression. This shuts down a lot of the nasty rumors.

Man Wai Sam knows there's more to it. She tracks down Gao Manli, who had Bella's phone. Man discovers something big. Bella posted a dark, suicidal message every year on June 13th. The most recent post was from a yacht party. She was filming a livestream and accidentally caught several influencers doing ketamine. The video then shows them ganging up and pushing her into the ocean.

Man copies the video. She sends one copy to the police. She sends another to Bella's mother.

A Mother's Betrayal

Here’s where it gets ugly. Bella's mom doesn't go to the cops. She takes the video straight to the influencers who killed her daughter. She tries to blackmail them for money. She's literally trading her dead daughter's justice for a payday. It's rough to watch.

But Man was one step ahead. She had Ma Ka Ming secretly film the entire blackmail exchange. The second that meeting ends, Man publishes everything. She drops the article revealing the real cause of death. Then she goes live with Kelly Tang and completely dismantles her, exposing how Hazel used the tragedy for a personal vendetta.

The influencers get arrested. Bella's mom is left with nothing but regret. Lau Yim gives her a piece of her mind. She tells her that you can't build your own happiness on your children's pain. With this huge exclusive, Open Platform skyrockets into the top five media platforms in Hong Kong.

A New Disaster

The Crane Accident

Just as that story cools, a new one explodes. A crane malfunctions on a film set and people are seriously injured. Open Platform and SNTV both race to the scene. The crew is on total lockdown. No one is talking to the press.

SNK's investigation finds that a cameraman named Ho Bo has the worst injuries. His spine is damaged. He might be paralyzed for life.

Cheung Ka-yin starts organizing her team to cover the story. George Keng suddenly tries to pull resources. He wants to cover a sports game instead. They argue and eventually compromise, deciding to cover both stories at the same time.

Cathy's Hospital Investigation

Cathy heads to the hospital. She tries to interview the cameraman's assistant, Chan Man Lok. A PR person is glued to his side. Chan just parrots the company line and takes all the blame himself.

Cathy knows he's lying. She excuses herself to use the restroom. Then she finds Ho Bo's hospital room. Another crew member, Choi Siu Kei, is sitting by the bed. Cathy talks to him and appeals to his conscience.

It works. Choi is eaten up with guilt. He confesses that he was supposed to be on the lift that day. He felt sick, so Ho Bo took his place. He says Ho Bo even mentioned that the equipment was making strange noises. Nobody listened. Cathy asks about emergency safety measures. Choi tells her the production spent all the money on the cast and visuals. The safety equipment was just for show. He's just a temp, so he couldn't do anything about it.

The Leak and the Fallout

A Source Betrayed

Cathy convinces Choi to do an interview. She promises to protect his identity. She brings him back to the studio for an exclusive. They take a break mid-interview. Choi checks his phone. His face drops.

A gossip outlet called "Laughing Entertainment" has already published his name. They've outed him as the whistleblower. He's furious and storms out of the studio. The interview is dead.

At the same time, Man is busy interviewing the equipment company. The manager insists the lift had regular maintenance. Man is persistent. She manages to get a look at their maintenance records.

SNK in Chaos

The film production company immediately starts a smear campaign against Choi. SNK's reputation is now in the toilet for failing to protect a source. Mrs. Fong is livid. George wants to launch an internal investigation to find the leak.

Cathy stops him. She says it's better to just cut their losses. She volunteers to take all the blame. She goes on air and issues a formal public apology.

Watching the news, Man sees right through it. The whole situation shows her that SNK's management is a complete mess.
