Episode Summary
In this episode, He Lihua's anxiety causes her to hallucinate, leading Feng Meiqi to give up a job in Shanghai to stay with her. Shen Mingzhu agrees to move back in with her difficult mother-in-law, who gifts her a family heirloom. Meanwhile, a misunderstanding over a stolen pregnancy test creates chaos, and Xu Zhixia forces her husband to compete for a promotion he gave up for a coworker.

He Lihua's Anxiety Hits a New Level
A Trip to Shanghai
Feng Meiqi is heading to Shanghai for a big law firm interview. Her mom, He Lihua, is already spiraling. She gives Meiqi a whole lecture about keeping her phone on. Lihua brings up that time Meiqi was studying in the UK. She was so worried she didn't sleep at all. Meiqi never even knew about this. Old Feng, her dad, backs up the story. So Meiqi promises she won't disappear like she did at her last class reunion.
Once in Shanghai, Meiqi heads straight to her interview. She bumps into Simon, a classmate from her time in the UK. It turns out he works at this exact firm. He gets her info and they plan to grab dinner.
Back at home, He Lihua completely loses it. She can't find her jade bracelet. She tears the house apart looking for it. Old Feng eventually finds it sitting on the bathroom counter. He tells her she needs to calm down. But she doesn't. She tries calling Meiqi, who is in the middle of her interview and can't pick up. That's it for Lihua. She grabs a taxi and drives all the way to Shanghai.
An Impossible Choice
Meiqi nails her interview. She presents her ideas clearly. The interviewers are really impressed. They want her to meet the head honcho, a Mr. Shen, for a final meeting.
She walks out of the building and finds her mom waiting for her. He Lihua looks wrecked. She confesses that she was having hallucinations that morning. The jade bracelet was right in front of her, but she couldn't see it. She just needed to see for herself that Meiqi was okay.
On the way home, Meiqi gets a call. They want her to come back tomorrow to meet Mr. Shen. It's the job offer she wanted. But she turns it down. She tells them she can't take the job. She has to stay home and look after her mother.
Shen Mingzhu Makes a Deal
The New Nursery
Yu Jingxiang gets a gift of white fungus from her brother. Her first thought is to give it to Shen Mingzhu. She finds Mingzhu busy at work and just waits quietly. When Mingzhu is free, Jingxiang asks about the pregnancy. She's happy to hear there's no morning sickness.
Mingzhu gives back a food container. She also gives Jingxiang a thank you gift. It's a container of wontons made with dried shrimp. Jingxiang is genuinely moved. She can't believe Mingzhu remembered that she loves dried shrimp.
Meanwhile, He Lihua has been busy. She completely redecorates Shen Mingzhu's old apartment. She even turns one room into a full-on nursery. Then she invites Mingzhu and her entire family over to see it. This is all a ploy to convince Mingzhu to move back in.
The Heirloom Bracelet
Mingzhu pulls her own mother, Yue Xiue, aside for a talk. She actually wants to move back. Yue Xiue is not so sure. She knows He Lihua is a difficult person. She doesn't want her daughter to be miserable.
Mingzhu is realistic. She knows Lihua is only being nice because of the baby. But moving back would help her parents. They could focus on their restaurant. Her brother, Shen Minghui, would have a quiet place to study. Mingzhu insists she can handle her mother-in-law. Yue Xiue finally, and reluctantly, agrees.
So, Mingzhu tells He Lihua she'll move in. Lihua is overjoyed. She immediately gives Mingzhu the family's heirloom jade bracelet. The very same one she panicked over earlier. Mingzhu feels she can't refuse, so she takes it.
A Pregnancy Scare and a Misunderstanding
A Shocking Diagnosis
Yue Xiue is still worried sick about her daughter. She wants to help Mingzhu after the baby is born. She even goes to Ni Xiaoni to ask for some of her old baby clothes. She hopes the baby will be as smart as Xiaoni.
While she's there, she hears that Ni Xiaoni is great at reading pulses. On a whim, she asks Xiaoni to check hers. Ni Xiaoni takes her pulse and announces it's a "joyful pulse." She thinks Yue Xiue is pregnant. Yue Xiue is stunned. She can't believe she could be pregnant at her age. But the idea gets stuck in her head.
The Missing Test
She decides to find out for sure. She sneaks into Ni Debao's little shop and swipes a pregnancy test. Of course, the shop owner, Debao's wife, notices it's gone. She immediately accuses Debao of stealing it for a mistress.
He swears he didn't do it. He even swears on a memorial photo of Ni Dani. But his wife won't let it go. She threatens to divorce him. The argument spills into the street for the whole neighborhood to see. Debao gets scared and just runs away. Later, Yue Xiue takes the test. It's negative. She's incredibly relieved. Her husband, Shen Shengli, can't help but tease her about the whole thing.
Zhang Hao's Noble Sacrifice Backfires
Xu Zhixia is doing great at work. She signs a big deal with Sam, who even gifts her 120 lipsticks. After work, she goes to pick up her daughter, Jiaojiao, from her husband's office. She casually asks Zhang Hao about his application for the director position. He gets weird and dodges the question. Even Jiaojiao can tell something is off.
Zhixia learns that Zhang Hao withdrew his name from consideration. She is furious. Her mother-in-law happens to be visiting, so Zhixia complains to her. The two of them, and even Jiaojiao, gang up on Zhang Hao for his lack of ambition.
Zhixia confronts him later. He finally tells her the truth. A coworker, Xiao Wu, was also in the running. Xiao Wu's wife threatened to divorce him if he didn't get this promotion. So, Zhang Hao stepped aside to help save his coworker's marriage. Zhixia does not care. She thinks his reasoning is ridiculous. She forces him to resubmit his application. Cornered, he agrees to do it.
