Episode Summary

Feng Meiqi Pays the Price
Ever since Feng Jianqi’s death, He Lihua has been spiraling. I get it, she’s grieving. But her trauma is now suffocating everyone around her. She has this intense fear whenever she can't reach a family member. It triggers horrible visions for her.
Feng Meiqi learned this the hard way. She turned her phone off for a class reunion. Her mom, He Lihua, basically had a meltdown. So when Meiqi went to Shanghai for a job interview, the same thing happened. He Lihua couldn't get through on the phone. She literally got on a train and went to Shanghai to find her. To stop her mom’s constant worrying, Feng Meiqi just gave up. She quit the job opportunity in Shanghai and came back home to Nanzhou.
Now she’s just lazing around the house, sleeping in late. Her dad, Feng Zhi, thinks she needs to get a job. He’s worried she’ll lose touch with the world. But He Lihua disagrees. She wants to be Meiqi’s safety net. It’s a classic family standoff.
The World's Most Expensive Baby Stroller
The tension keeps building. Shen Mingzhu comes over wearing a dress Meiqi gave her. Everyone is trying to be pleasant. He Lihua is busy shopping for a baby stroller online. She finds one she loves. It costs 20,000 yuan. You read that right.
Shen Mingzhu gently suggests that maybe they don't need to spend that much. Old Feng remembers a coworker has a stroller they aren't using. He Lihua has to drop the subject, but you can tell she's not happy. Shen Mingzhu wants to use that money for baby insurance instead. Smart move.
A Neighborhood Misunderstanding
The Missing Pregnancy Test
There was a pretty funny side story this episode. Ni Xiaoni’s mom thought her husband, Ni Debao, was cheating. Why? Because a box of pregnancy tests went missing from their shop. She caused a huge scene in the street. All the neighbors came out to watch them fight. A few days later, Ni Debao "finds" the box under a cabinet. He swears he was faithful, and things calm down.
But that’s not what really happened. Yue Xiue had visited earlier. Ni Xiaoni, who fancies herself a traditional doctor, took her pulse. She confidently declared that Yue Xiue was pregnant. Yue Xiue panicked. She was too embarrassed to go get a proper test. So, Shen Shengli just swiped a box from the shop for her.
Later, Yue Xiue comes to return the box. Ni Xiaoni’s mom realizes her husband lied about finding it. She absolutely loses it on him. The fight was pretty intense. He ended up on the ground, and she just walked away.
The In-Laws Meet
A Dinner Full of Demands
This was the main event. It was time for Cui Bichen and Xu Zhidong’s parents to finally meet. Xu Zhixia, ever the planner, set it up at the hotel where Shen Mingzhu works.
Everyone arrives. The parents, Yu Jingxiang and Xu Dacheng, are super welcoming to Cui Bichen's family. They get straight to the point. They mention the 200,000 yuan bride price. Cui Bichen’s mom surprises them. She says they won't take the money. It should be used as a starting fund for the young couple. Yu Jingxiang is thrilled.
Then comes the catch. Cui Bichen's mom expects them to provide a house for the newlyweds. It doesn't have to be big. They don't even need Cui Bichen's name on the deed. But a house is required. Xu Dacheng actually applauds her for being so direct.
A Ghost from the Past
While the families are talking, Shen Mingzhu runs into someone. It’s Guan Weidong. He recognizes her immediately. His son is the boy Feng Jianqi died trying to save. Guan Weidong feels an immense debt to their family. He tried to repay them before, but Feng Zhi and He Lihua were too deep in their grief to accept anything.
He sees his chance now. He gives Shen Mingzhu his business card. He tells her to call him if she ever needs anything. Xu Zhixia happens to see this exchange from the hallway and gets curious.
The Aftermath
A Family Divided Over a House
The dinner ends, and reality sets in for Xu Zhidong's parents. They can't afford a house. Yu Jingxiang suggests a solution. They can renovate their current apartment for the kids. She and Xu Dacheng will move out and rent a small place.
Xu Zhixia is furious. She refuses to let her parents do that. She thinks her brother, Xu Zhidong, is just being a freeloader. Xu Zhidong fires back. He reminds her he gave up a great job in Beijing to stay home for their parents. The argument gets ugly. Yu Jingxiang tries to break it up, but Xu Zhixia storms out of the house.
From Bad to Worse for the Feng Family
Things aren't any better at the Feng house. Feng Meiqi is out with Cui Bichen. Her mom, He Lihua, starts calling her phone. Over and over. Feng Meiqi is completely fed up and rushes home on her bike. On the way, a motorcycle hits her and just drives off.
She gets home, angry and shaken. He Lihua immediately starts yelling at her for not answering the phone. Feng Meiqi finally snaps. She tells her mom she feels like she's suffocating, then slams her bedroom door.
He Lihua then turns her frustration on Shen Mingzhu. She tells her daughter-in-law to quit her job and just stay home to rest. Shen Mingzhu says she wants to earn her own money for the baby. During the conversation, she accidentally chips the jade bracelet He Lihua gave her. He Lihua is horrified. She reveals the bracelet is worth 100,000 yuan. Ouch.
Later, He Lihua sees that Feng Meiqi’s hand is injured from the fall. Her anger melts away. She helps clean the wound, and Meiqi finally lets out all her pent-up frustration. It's a small moment of peace in all the chaos. But the problems just keep piling up. Shen Mingzhu’s boss is now pressuring her to get her father-in-law to bring business to the hotel. And back at the Xu house, Yu Jingxiang realizes she has no choice. She has to go ask Xu Zhixia for money.
