Episode Summary
Shen Mingzhu and Feng Jianqi's marriage gets off to a rocky start when his snobby mother, He Lihua, ruins the first family meeting, leading to a physical altercation. At the same time, Xu Zhixia discovers she's pregnant but hesitates to have a second child due to financial stress and a difficult mother-in-law. The episode ends with Xu Zhixia's mother, Yu Jingxiang, falling for a cruel scam from someone pretending to be her long-lost daughter.

Two Very Different Pregnancies
A Happy Start
We kick things off with Shen Mingzhu and Feng Jianqi. They just got their marriage certificate. They're officially official. The next stop is meeting the parents and taking wedding photos. Mingzhu is already pregnant. Feng Jianqi is being the perfect doting husband. He carries her up and down stairs so she doesn't get tired. It’s sweet.
A Complicated Discovery
Then you have Xu Zhixia. She just helped her parents with her grandmother’s funeral. It's a sad time. Ni Debao, who seems to be a doctor, checks her pulse. He tells her she’s pregnant. A pregnancy test confirms it. Zhixia is not happy about this. She doesn't know if she wants another kid. Her daughter, Jiaojiao, definitely doesn't want a sibling.
As she gets back to her apartment building, she gets a text from her husband, Zhang Hao. His mother is here. You know, the picky, difficult one. Zhixia literally stops in her tracks. She does not want to go upstairs and face that woman.
The Mother-in-Law Problem
I don't blame her. The second her mother-in-law walks in, she starts inspecting the place. She judges the apartment like it's a four-star hotel. Zhixia finally goes home and braces for impact. Her mother-in-law finds out about the pregnancy. She's thrilled. She’s hoping for a grandson.
Zhixia says they can't afford another child. Zhang Hao doesn't make enough money. His mom just brushes it off. She tells Zhixia to just have the baby. She promises she'll raise it for them. Zhixia doesn't buy it for a second. Her mother-in-law said the exact same thing when Jiaojiao was born. Then she got a job offer and left before Zhixia even finished her postpartum recovery. So, yeah. Empty promises.

A Gift with an Expiration Date
Today is the big day. The parents are finally meeting. Feng Jianqi drives his mom and dad to Shen Mingzhu’s family restaurant. His mother, He Lihua, is clearly unimpressed. She looks down on Mingzhu's family. Her meeting gift proves it. She brings a box of ginseng that expires in a month. Feng Jianqi protests. His parents just shut him down.
Meanwhile, Mingzhu's family is running around their restaurant. Her dad, Shen Shengli, shoos away all the customers. He even makes his son, Shen Minghui, save a parking spot out front.
Things Go From Bad to Worse
Shen Shengli cooks a massive feast. He puts on a new suit. His wife, Yue Xiue, even sprays him with perfume to cover the smell of cooking oil. Feng Jianqi's family arrives on time. The whole Shen family is waiting, along with some nosy neighbors. The first thing He Lihua does is complain about the perfume smell. Feng Jianqi quickly tries to smooth things over.
Then she sees the huge table of food. She immediately complains that it's too wasteful. Shen Minghui gets annoyed. He points out his dad cooked all this because he sees them as honored guests. His mom has to pull his sleeve to get him to stop talking. Shen Shengli tries to toast his new in-laws. He Lihua makes a snide remark about Feng Jianqi being too eager to please. Then she deliberately asks the pregnant Shen Mingzhu to pour her tea. Feng Jianqi jumps up to do it instead.
The Fight Breaks Out
The families start discussing wedding plans. He Lihua drops a bomb. She announces each family will hold its own separate wedding. And she forbids Mingzhu's family from attending their celebration. Both Feng Jianqi and Shen Mingzhu say that's not right.
Shen Minghui has had enough. He stands up and confronts He Lihua directly. She fires back. She says she would have never approved this marriage if Mingzhu wasn't pregnant. That sets Shen Minghui off. He starts yelling at her. Feng Jianqi gets between them to break it up. Minghui struggles to get free. In the chaos, he accidentally slaps Feng Jianqi across the face.
Feng Jianqi's nose starts bleeding. He Lihua completely loses it. She screams at Shen Minghui and tries to drag her son home. Feng Jianqi refuses to leave. So, she grabs her husband and storms out, cursing the whole way. Shen Shengli runs after them to apologize, but they just drive off.
The Aftermath
A Small Compromise
Back at Xu Zhixia's place, Jiaojiao has a deal. She'll agree to a baby brother or sister. But she wants a dog. Zhixia is still on the fence. She has her job. She's also trying to find her long-lost sister. She feels like she has no energy for another kid. Zhang Hao and Jiaojiao both try to convince her to keep it.
A Night of Apologies
Feng Jianqi ends up staying the night at Shen Mingzhu's house. They squeeze onto her small single bed. He apologizes over and over for his mother's behavior. He even suggests names for the baby. Mingzhu just hopes having the baby will fix things with her mother-in-law. Good luck with that.
The next morning, Yue Xiue is up early making breakfast. Shen Shengli is already building a bigger bed for the couple. He also packs a huge lunch for Feng Jianqi. They're good people.
A Cruel Scam
The episode ends on a different note. Yu Jingxiang, who is searching for her daughter, gets a phone call. The person on the line claims to be her missing child. Without a second thought, Yu Jingxiang transfers three thousand yuan to them. The person promises to come see her tomorrow.
She is overjoyed. She immediately calls Xu Zhixia to share the news. Zhixia is with Zhang Hao, looking at postpartum care centers. She hears the story and instantly knows what happened. She has to tell her mom she's been scammed.
