Episode Summary
We meet Yu Yu, a socially awkward designer who alienates everyone. He clashes with a client, fails to impress a girl at a party, and terrifies his new neighbor, Xia Xiaoman. A sudden medical issue lands him in the hospital, where his doctor turns out to be Gu Yejia, a woman he annoyed earlier.

Meet the Main Guy
An Introduction to Yu Yu
First, you need to meet Yu Yu. He's an interior designer. He is also completely obsessed with details. I'm not talking about being a little picky. I mean he's pathologically demanding about everything.
We first see him at a movie theater. He gets annoyed at a woman, Gu Yejia, for sitting in the wrong seat. He makes her move. It turns out her actual seat is the best one in the house. He tries to trade with her. She says no. Good for her. Before he can argue, his assistant, Shen Wu, pulls him away for a work emergency.
A Professional Nightmare
The emergency is a green wall. Yu Yu arrives at a client's house. He sees a painter putting green paint on a wall. He immediately loses his mind and tells the man to stop. His assistant explains that the client specifically requested this color.
The homeowner shows up. He's thrilled with the green. Yu Yu tries to convince him it's a terrible design choice. He just won't let it go. The client gets angry. He calls Yu Yu's boss, Lin Sa. She already knows what's happening. She wonders why a senior designer like Yu Yu can't just listen to his clients. He always prioritizes his own aesthetic.
A Series of Social Disasters
The Awkward Party
Lin Sa drags Yu Yu to a work party. He hates it. He thinks everyone is fake and just spouting nonsense. He refuses to play along. He gets called up to give a speech. Instead, he sends his assistant up to do it for him.
While wandering around, he finds a Tianjin noodle station. He immediately complains that the sauce is inauthentic. He spots a girl nearby. He decides he'll impress her by cooking a proper sauce himself. He gets to work in the kitchen. By the time he finishes, the girl is already talking to someone else. He feels like an idiot. He hands the food to his assistant and just leaves.
He Really Can't Talk to Women
Later, a friend teases him. He says Yu Yu is completely hopeless at talking to women. A girl walks into their shop. Yu Yu decides to prove his friend wrong. He tries to start a conversation. He doesn't even get five sentences out before she looks terrified and runs away.
He thinks about what his friend said. The theory is that he's guaranteed to annoy any woman within ten sentences. He tests this at a convenience store. He tries chatting with the clerk. She quickly decides he's a total weirdo. Mission accomplished, I guess.
New Neighbors and a Hospital Visit
An Uncomfortable Encounter
As he leaves the store, he runs into Gu Yejia, the doctor from the movie theater. They don't really acknowledge each other. Then he sees another woman, Xia Xiaoman. She's dragging her belongings down the street after a breakup. She drops a stuffed doll without realizing it.
Yu Yu picks it up. He follows her down the street to give it back. She notices him following her. She gets scared and thinks he's a creep. When she's about to make a run for it, they arrive at the same apartment building. They realize they're neighbors. His first words to his new neighbor are not "hello." They are, "The walls in this building are bad."
From Noise War to Emergency Room
He goes into his apartment. He's trying to cook, but she's blasting music next door. He retaliates by turning his own music up even louder. Xia Xiaoman comes over to complain. She finds him on the floor. He's passed out from stomach pain. She does the right thing and rushes him to the hospital.
At the hospital, the doctor on duty is Gu Yejia. She tells him he needs a rectal exam. He immediately tries to leave. Gu Yejia just watches him, clearly amused by this strange man.
The Aftermath
Hospital Stays and Nagging Moms
Yu Yu ends up staying in the hospital. His family comes to visit. His mom immediately starts nagging him about finding a girlfriend. He can't stand it. Gu Yejia sees him trying to check out early to go to work. She advises him to stay, but he won't listen. We also learn that her family is constantly setting her up on blind dates.
Meanwhile, Xia Xiaoman is waiting for her ex-boyfriend to call. Yu Yu's assistant, Shen Wu, finds her. He pays her back for the hospital fees. They also add each other on WeChat.
Back on the Job
Yu Yu goes straight from the hospital to a job site. He's just as strict as ever. He argues with a craftsman over the details. He gets so angry that he starts tearing down the work himself. In the middle of his tantrum, he feels a sharp pain in his backside. The pain forces him to stop. His boss, Lin Sa, finds out he was sick the whole time. She just thinks he's a very, very strange person for not telling anyone.
