Episode Summary
Nie Jiuluo and Yu Rong fight off a monster in the Roushan mine to rescue a critically weak Yan Tuo. Yan Tuo struggles with severe trauma and remains withdrawn after returning home. Meanwhile, Yu Rong and Xing Shen realize the mine is a crucial location for the villains and plan their next move.

Into the Dark
Nie Jiuluo and Yu Rong do not waste time. They sneak into the deep, dark Roushan mine. They are on high alert. Neither of them notices the mysterious figure trailing them in the shadows. They reach the depths of the cavern. Nie Jiuluo spots an iron cage. Yan Tuo is inside. He looks terrible. He is barely breathing. He is so out of it that he thinks the women are just hallucinations.
The rescue gets messy fast. A Di Xiao is hiding nearby. It waits for the perfect moment. It ambushes Yu Rong. She takes a hard hit. She scrambles to pull out her whip. The sound of the whip scares the beast a little. But this monster is strong. Nie Jiuluo and Yu Rong have to give it everything they have. It is a brutal fight. They eventually manage to kill the creature.
The Cover Story
They get Yan Tuo out of the mine and into the car. He is weak. He stays silent. He looks completely lost in his own head. Nie Jiuluo decides to try a different approach. She starts a loud conversation with Yu Rong. They talk about Lin Xirou. Nie Jiuluo breaks down her theory. She thinks Lin Xirou has been a Di Xiao for twenty years. She also suspects Lin Xirou uses something other than blood bags to keep her human form.
They finally get Yan Tuo home. They have to be careful. Nie Jiuluo spins a lie for Sister Lu. She claims business competitors kidnapped Yan Tuo. She says they locked him in a coal shed. She asks Sister Lu to take good care of him.
Trauma and Noodles
Yan Tuo drags himself to the bathroom. He looks in the mirror. He sees a haggard, broken man. He feels guilty. He feels like he let Nie Jiuluo down. Nie Jiuluo is busy in the kitchen. She cooks a meal for him from scratch. She brings out a hot bowl of noodles. A sudden noise makes Yan Tuo jump. He is terrified. He opens the door with extreme caution.
He sits down to eat. He still does not speak. Nie Jiuluo gently fixes his clothes. She spots something. It is the lucky star she gave him. He kept it with him the whole time. She realizes this little object was his emotional crutch. She hands it back to him. He whispers a thank you. Then he retreats to his room and shuts down again.
Connecting the Dots
Yu Rong meets up with Xing Shen. She gives him the full report on the Roushan mine. She describes every weird thing she saw. She has a theory. She thinks the mine is a transit hub. It is likely the place where the Di Xiao transform into humans. They had to leave too fast to prove it. Xing Shen listens closely. He is sharp. He realizes this mine is vital to Lin Xirou. It is her weak point. He starts planning how to use this information.
The Long Night
Nie Jiuluo looks at a photo. It is a family portrait of Yan Tuo. she found it during the rescue. She feels for him. She goes to check on him. She knocks on his door. Yan Tuo is already awake. A nightmare just woke him up. He is sweating cold sweat. He sits alone by the window. His eyes are empty. He stares at nothing. The memories are eating him alive.
