The Amusement Park Disaster

Family outings are supposed to be fun. Li Daoqi missed that memo. Cheng Man wants to take the kid to the amusement park for Children's Day. Li is stressed about his failed investments. He refuses to go. Then he spots Xing Kai, a big-shot investor, at the park. Suddenly, Li is eager to join.

This isn't about family time. It’s a stakeout. Li abandons Cheng Man and his child immediately. He hunts down Xing Kai. He pretends it’s a coincidence. He lies about just being there for his kid. It is painful to watch. Li tries way too hard to impress this guy. He even rides a roller coaster to bond with him. Li is terrified of heights. The result is exactly what you expect. He vomits all over Xing Kai.

Cheng Man is left wandering the park alone. She calls Li repeatedly. He ignores her to schmooze with the investor. When he finally shows up, the damage is done. Cheng Man is furious. She takes the kid and leaves. Li deserves that.

The Pivot

Li Daoqi doesn't know when to quit. On Monday, he drags Fu Yudong along to ambush Xing Kai again. Xing Kai isn't interested in Li’s original project. Their business philosophies don't match. Li thinks fast on his feet. He pitches a completely new idea. He wants to start a cosmetic brand.

He uses Fu Yudong as a prop. Fu is a chemistry PhD. Li thinks this adds scientific credibility to the brand. It’s a desperate pivot. Fu goes home later to an empty house. He stares at a pot he bought for Zhang Ran’s mother. It sits there unused.

Viral Fame and Despair

Zhang Ran is blowing up online. Her livestream from the amusement park went viral. Her agency sees dollar signs. They start pouring resources into her. They give her a specific brand identity. It’s all about "despair." It’s dark, but it sells. Even Fu Yudong and Zhang Ran’s father see the video circulating.

Zhang Ran tries to explain the video to Fu in the bedroom later. He doesn't get mad. He is too focused on his own exit strategy. He tells her he plans to go back to Canada. He needs to make money. Zhang Ran looks crushed. Her dad is worried too. He sits on the balcony with Fu. He knows long-distance relationships are risky. He fears they will drift apart.

The Ex-Factor

Cheng Man gets a text from a ghost. It’s her ex-lover. This guy wasted eight years of her life. He gave her expensive jewelry but never offered marriage. Now he wants to meet. Cheng Man actually brings Li Daoqi along. That is a power move.

The dinner is tense. Cheng Man keeps her distance from the ex. She gives him zero opportunities. On the ride home, she tries to comfort Li. She talks about their happy family. She worries he feels inadequate.

She is right to worry. Li plays it cool during dinner. But later, he spills his guts to Fu Yudong. He knew exactly who that guy was. He feels guilty. Cheng Man used to be high-class. She traveled the world. Since marrying Li, she has been stuck at home raising a child. She hasn't been abroad once. Li feels like he clipped her wings.
