Zhang Ran’s household is tense. Her dad drops some heavy news on her mom in the kitchen. Fu Yudong plans to go back to Canada. This panics her mom. She thinks a separation now guarantees a divorce later. They just want the kids to stay together.
Her dad sees things differently. He blames Zhang Ran for the whole mess. He thinks Yudong is only threatening to leave to force Zhang Ran’s hand. He believes Yudong wants an apology. Dad decides to intervene. He cuts up some watermelon and heads to Zhang Ran’s room to smooth things over.
