Episode Summary
The interns survive a stressful ranking reveal where no one is eliminated, leading to a bonding trip at a horror escape room where Jiang Chen and Ren Jiatong grow closer. Heartbreak and Hallway Drinks
Zhou Nian is having a rough night. He tried to salvage his relationship, but it’s officially over. He heads back to the law firm to wallow in peace, but he hears a noise. He grabs a mop, thinking an intruder broke in. It’s not a burglar. It’s Yan Fei, sitting on the stairs and knocking back some alcohol.
They get to talking. Yan Fei admits she pulled strings with her brother to keep her spot at Jun'an. She claims she didn't just do it for herself. She also wanted to help Zhou Nian fix his love life. She thinks he’s a rare breed of loyal man in this cutthroat industry.
Family Drama and Cold Shoulders
Things aren't going great for the interns either. Jiang Chen texts Ren Jiatong to check on her. She shuts him down with a cold reply. He’s crushed.
Later that night, Zhou Nian drives Yan Fei home. Her brother, Yan Da, spots them. He doesn't like what he sees. Once he figures out who Zhou Nian is, he orders a background check. He wants to know everything about this lawyer guy.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chen deals with family issues. His aunt is crying because her daughter refuses to come back from abroad. Jiang Chen comforts her. His aunt tells him to cut his own mother some slack. It’s a heavy moment.
The Scoreboard Fake-Out
Zhou Nian drops a bomb in the group chat. Scores and rankings come out the next morning. Nobody sleeps well that night.
The results are a mixed bag. Ren Jiatong and Yan Fei top the list with thirty points. Guo Xiaoyu and Huang Yue snag twenty. Li Ke gets ten. Jiang Chen gets a big fat zero. He and Li Ke are at the bottom.
But then comes the twist. Bai Xiao announces that nobody is going home. Everyone advances to the next stage. The relief is instant. The group decides to celebrate by hitting up a horror escape room that night.
Career vs. Marriage
Yan Fei skips the party. She’s bummed about her performance compared to Ren Jiatong. Zhou Nian catches her sulking. He gives her some solid advice. He tells her to stop seeing her family background as a burden. Resource integration is part of the job. But she needs to figure out why she really wants to be at Jun'an, or she won't last.
While the others are screaming at ghosts, Huang Yue and Guo Xiaoyu have a serious talk later. Huang Yue reveals her boyfriend, "Uncle," proposed. The catch is he wants her to quit her job and be a housewife. She’s torn. She wants the career, but she’s also been waiting for this marriage for a long time. Guo Xiaoyu supports her no matter what.
Spooks and Sparks
The escape room is a disaster in the best way. Jiang Chen is terrified, but he sticks close to Ren Jiatong. They solve puzzles well together. The other interns stop being scared and start fighting back against the actors.
The highlight is Jiang Chen and Ren Jiatong getting handcuffed together. They can't find the key. They end up having a romantic moment right in front of the ghosts. It’s pure cheese, but it works.
Yan Fei Stands Her Ground
The next day, the team heads to a community legal aid event. Yan Fei finds out last. Her brother interfered again and tried to keep her away. Yan Da thinks law is just a glorified service industry where you have to bow and scrape to clients. He doesn't think it's worth her time.
Yan Fei finally snaps. She tells him she chose this job partly to rebel against his control. She might not have planned to stay at Jun'an forever, but now she’s determined to prove herself. She rushes to the event and confronts Zhou Nian for keeping her in the dark. She’s ready to work.
The episode ends on a quieter note. Jiang Chen spots Ren Jiatong at a noodle shop. He joins her table and gives her the egg from his bowl. It’s a small gesture, but it says a lot.
