Ren Jiatong finds a stray dog while hiding from the rain. She scoops it up, but Jiang Chen isn't thrilled. He eventually spills the beans on his hesitation. He had a dog as a kid. His dad gave it away after the divorce. His dad told him he was too weak to care for it. That harsh lesson is exactly why Jiang Chen is so obsessed with being a top lawyer. He needs to prove he is capable of protecting things. Jiatong decides he needs to lighten up. She drags him into a puddle for a splash fight. It actually works, and he cracks a smile.
Family Burdens
Yan Fei tries to give Zhou Nian a ride home. He turns her down. She asks if her family's reputation scares him. He says no. In fact, he respects her brother, Yan Da. He compares Yan Da to his own ex-girlfriend, who fought tooth and nail for her brother, Liang Xiaosong. Guo Xiaoyu is in a spiral. Her boyfriend, Zhu Zhisheng, is ghosting her. She stalks his social media and sees he followed a new woman. She zooms in on the woman's latest photo. She spots a pair of shoes and pants that belong to Zhisheng. She is convinced he is cheating. She tells Jiatong, but Jiatong tells her to focus on her job.
Jiang Chen tries to give Jiatong some advice later. He tells her to trust people more. Jiatong isn't having it. She has seen too many people get burned.
The Hangzhou Connection
Zhou An drops a new case on the team. An employee at a company called "Yi Ai Wan" collapsed in the parking lot. The family wants a huge payout. Jiatong lands the lead on the case. Yan Fei is jealous until she does some digging.
Yan Fei tracks Guo Xiaoyu’s IP address. It pings in Hangzhou. Xiaoyu faked being sick to go find her boyfriend. Jiatong realizes the connection immediately. The guy in the coma for the new case is Zhisheng. Xiaoyu feels guilty and forgets all about the cheating accusations. Yan Fei decides to tag along with Jiatong to Hangzhou. They need to retrieve their friend and get to the bottom of this case.
