Episode Summary
Xu Jingzhi and He Ya investigate the school connection between two victims, suspecting the teacher is hiding something. Xu Yi and his wife turn on each other as the pressure mounts. Awkward Vibes and Missing Files
Things are tense between Xu Jingzhi and He Ya. Xu Jingzhi tries to break the ice. He acts strange and grabs at invisible bugs in the air. He wants to lighten the mood. It doesn't work. He Ya just gets annoyed by his rambling.
Elsewhere, Zhuang Mingcheng runs into a kid selling books. He buys a bunch of them. He also picks up a handkerchief. He leaves the books on the ground.
The police investigation moves to the school. They find files on Wu Xinxin and Liu Wanyao. The girls were two years apart. He Ya asks the teacher if they knew each other. The teacher denies it. She says they didn't know each other in school. She claims she doesn't know about after graduation.
But the teacher acts suspicious. She hesitates. She claims the files were incomplete when she arrived. She says she wants to help but has no evidence. Xu Jingzhi looks at the photos on the school wall. He spots a connection. He is sure the girls knew each other. He pretends he doesn't see it. He wants to solve this puzzle alone. He thinks he has to do it solo. He Ya shuts that idea down immediately.

Internal Conflicts and Cover-ups

Zhuang Mingcheng has a rough night too. He opens his door and gets kicked by Zheng Xintao. Zheng demands to know why Zhuang is investigating Zhao Xueli’s son. Zhuang realizes Zheng isn't acting on the boss's orders. He tells Zheng he crossed a line.
Hou Liangyuan is also having a bad day. Mai Boyuan refused to work with him because of the trouble he caused. Hou is angry. He sees a subordinate touch his girl. He uses that as an excuse. He has the man taken away to be "handled."
Blood, Books, and Bad Bosses
He Ya makes a big discovery. She finds Hu Bo’s safe. It is full of account books. She reports this to her superiors immediately. She suspects one ledger is missing. There is also bad news in the bedroom. They find a large amount of Liu Wanyao’s blood. The leadership decides the priority is finding the second victim.
He Ya and Xu Jingzhi go for dinner. They run into Shi Zelin. Shi tells them Ge Feifei ran away. He claims he doesn't believe it. He Ya says she will keep an eye out. Xu Jingzhi is skeptical. He asks if Shi successfully quit drugs. He implies addicts can't be trusted. Shi looks at his ex-wife with fear in his eyes. He doesn't dare speak.

Xu Jingzhi asks for time off. He wants to visit Aunt Min. He Ya insists on tagging along. They aren't the only ones there. Zhuang Mingcheng visits Wu Min’s grave too. He stands there in silence. Then his phone rings. He hides to take the call.
He Ya and Xu Jingzhi don't notice him. They also don't notice someone taking photos of them. He Ya feels like the whole case is weird. She wants to check the crime scene again. Her ex-husband refuses to let her.
