Spoiler Alert

The Art of Observation

Liu Ming starts things off confused. He doesn't get why they need video footage to track Hu Bo. He thinks a photo should be enough. Xu Jingzhi shuts that down immediately. He tells the rookie that you can't trust your eyes.

Xu pulls out two photos on his phone. They look like the same person. But they aren't. He explains that static images are tricky. People make mistakes with still photos. It gets even worse if the subject wears a hat or a mask. But body language doesn't lie. Movement makes a person identifiable. Liu Ming finally gets it. This explains why the witness testimonies were all over the place earlier. He grabs his notebook and writes this down.

Dead Men Walking

Xu Jingzhi is struggling. He realizes his empathy condition is acting up again. He thinks back on recent events and breaks into a cold sweat.

Meanwhile, He Ya is digging into the surveillance on Ding Chuan. She finds something wild. The person who is supposed to be dead is actually alive. That changes everything. We also learn that Zhuang Mingcheng got someone to record the day's events on a dashcam. He even handed it over to the police.

He Ya knows Xu hasn't let go of Aunt Min's case. She admits she found some evidence too. Then the forensic team finds a major lead. He Ya and Xu rush to the scene. Liu Ming gets a call and has to bail. That leaves Xu Jingzhi alone with CEO Zhao.

A Deadly Gift

Someone is pulling the strings behind Hu Bo's death. CEO Zhao wants to talk to the cops. He is ready to spill. But then a threat comes in. The bad guys use his wife's life as leverage. Zhao panics. He lies to the police and says he knows nothing. He tries to flee.

Xu Jingzhi sees right through it. He knows someone got to Zhao. Xu gets on the phone with his brother, Zhuang Mingcheng. The conversation is tense. They are testing each other. Zhuang mentions a "gift" for his brother.

Zhao can't handle the pressure. He jumps from the roof. Xu walks out just in time to see the body hit the ground. The sight triggers him physically. He collapses. His nose starts bleeding. The police swarm him. They treat him like a suspect and haul him back to the station.

The Puppet Master

The police think Xu pushed Zhao over the edge. They suspect Xu pressured him too hard during questioning. Xu insists that isn't what happened.

Zhuang Mingcheng is arrogant. He tells his partner that everything is going according to plan. He is confident his police brother is walking right into his trap.

Xu gets released, but he is in trouble. He packs his things and leaves the station. His colleagues think the discipline is harsh. Xu goes home and starts thinking. The cases feel weird. They feel specific. It seems like someone designed these crimes just for him.

Closing In

He Ya is under fire. Her bosses want the Hu Bo case closed in a few days. But they have nothing. They don't even know what the killer looks like. The team is anxious.

Back at his apartment, Xu connects the dots. He suspects his brother is the mastermind. He thinks back to his own escape in the past. He remembers giving the police a sketch. He identified a ringleader back then. The memory hits him hard. He freezes.
