Episode Summary
Zhuang Mingcheng executes Zhao Xin's order to eliminate Ding Chuan, who commits suicide after realizing he has been abandoned. Xu Jingzhi theorizes that a murder victim is actually alive, while his obsession with the case grows. Zhuang continues to tie up loose ends by targeting Ge Feifei, while Xu secures a clue from a mentally unstable witness at the hospital.

The Boss Makes a Move
Zhuang Mingcheng meets up with Zhao Xin. The vibe is heavy. Zhao comments on the weather. She implies Zhuang sees everything clearly because of his position. Zhuang fires back immediately. He says a boss only worries when their subordinates are incompetent. Zhao asks if he’s fighting with Ding Chuan. Zhuang doesn't deny it. He pulls out a police wanted warrant. He suggests they use this chance to close the Hu Bo case for good.
Zhuang also gives her a warning. She needs to cut ties with Mai Boyuan. He brings up Zhao Xueli. He says Xueli will run the moment things go south. He tells her Xueli isn't good enough for her. Zhao Xin dismisses the status talk. She only cares about willingness. Then she drops a hint. She touches her bracelet. She says she has worn it for a long time. It is time to get rid of it. Zhuang knows exactly what that means.
Cleaning Up the Mess
Zhuang goes home. He eats dinner calmly. Then he does something creepy. He uses the leftover soup to wipe his fingerprints off the table. He calls Ding Chuan for a midnight meeting.
Meanwhile, the cops are brainstorming. Xu Jingzhi drops a bombshell at dinner. He tells He Ya that Liu Wanyao might still be alive. He Ya thinks he is delusional. Xu laughs it off. He insists the death scene was faked. Liu Ming argues about the bloodstains. Xu counters with science. He explains how anticoagulants can keep blood fresh. He Ya realizes the killer knows police procedures. They staged the scene perfectly. But they still lack hard proof.
Ding Chuan's End
Ding Chuan meets Zhuang. He sees the bracelet. He loses his temper. They fight for real. Ding refuses to believe his boss would toss him aside. Zhuang mocks him. He looks at Ding like a stray dog. Then Ding gets a phone call. His sister tells him she is free. That breaks him. He stares at the bracelet. He throws it into a fire brazier. He hallucinates Zhao Xin standing there. He gives a creepy smile. Then he dies quietly. Zhuang picks up the bracelet and walks away.
Obsession and Old Wounds
Xu Jingzhi is spiraling. He forgets to eat or sleep. He Ya stocks his fridge. She understands him, but she can't help much. We learn about the past. Young Lu Ran hated her brother for leaving her. Xu tried to find her back then. He tried to get the police involved. They couldn't do anything because she had family. It became his biggest regret.
Zhuang isn't done cleaning up. He forces Liang Xinyue to set up a meeting with Ge Feifei. He wants to "handle" her. Liang has no choice. She agrees.
The Hospital Visit
Xu finally calms down. He eats some food. He realizes his ex-wife was there, but she is already gone. He gets a phone call and rushes to the hospital. Zhang Yutong is there. She is mentally unstable. She is drawing pictures frantically. Xu asks her about the writing on Zheng Xintao’s neck. She says she knows what it said. She tries to stop him from recording her. He takes the drawing anyway.
Zhuang visits the hospital too. He goes to Ge Feifei’s room. She is terrified. She doesn't say a word. Zhuang looks at her. He decides this fear is exactly what he wants.
