Episode Summary
Jin Chao and Jiang Mu share a dinner where she tests his jealousy with a fake ex-boyfriend story. After getting drunk, she tries to move in with him, but he refuses due to his past injuries. The tension breaks when Jiang Mu confesses her feelings and tries to leave, prompting Jin Chao to chase her into an elevator for a kiss. The tension between Jin Chao and Jiang Mu is getting ridiculous. Jin Chao leans in close and asks her to check if he has a fever. She reaches out. He dodges immediately. It is a classic move to mess with her head. He makes her a special "moonlight coffee" to smooth things over. The conversation shifts to food. Jiang Mu mentions loving crabs as a kid. Jin Chao happens to have a box at his place.
They head to his apartment. He cooks while she "helps" in the kitchen. She decides to test him. She invents a story about a rockstar ex-boyfriend who made her jump into a frozen lake. Jin Chao buys it completely. He gets visibly angry at this imaginary jerk. San Lai calls to hang out. He hears Jiang Mu’s voice in the background. He hangs up immediately. That man knows how to be a good wingman.
The Drunken Pitch
Jiang Mu wants wine. Jin Chao pours her a glass but sticks to water himself. He asks about her mom, Jiang Yinhan. Jiang Mu says she is doing fine. The alcohol hits her quickly. She starts complaining. She is mad he hid from her for so long. She declares their "brother-sister" relationship is over.
She switches tactics. She complains about being a broke intern who can barely afford rent. She wants to move in. Jin Chao shuts that down. She begs and pleads. Jin Chao looks at her and remembers the past. He thinks back to his car accident and his time in a wheelchair. He told San Lai back then how fragile she was as a baby. He promised to protect her from suffering. He refuses to be the reason she suffers now.
The Elevator Move
They stand by the window looking at the moon. Jin Chao asks a hard question. He wants to know if Jin Qiang hid his contact info when she went back to Man City. She nods. Jin Chao gets philosophical. He quotes a line about the morning sun and the evening moon never meeting. It is a clear reference to their names.
Jiang Mu starts crying. She hugs him from behind. She asks if his promise to wait for her still counts. She is 26 years old now. She can make her own choices. She asks if he would really be okay watching her marry someone else. He stays silent. She admits she never forgot him. She still loves him.

Later, Jiang Mu is at work hosting visitors with Gu Zhijie. They return to the institute and find Jin Chao waiting in the lobby. Jiang Mu decides to play games. She introduces Jin Chao as her "ex-boyfriend from a week ago." Gu Zhijie introduces himself as her colleague. Jin Chao gets jealous instantly.
They walk to the observatory. Jin Chao asks if she is busy. She ignores the question. She asks what he would do if she had a terrible fiancé. He says he would make her dump the guy before the wedding. She gets serious. She asks what happens if the medical report scares her off. He looks panicked again. She shows him the view. The sun and moon are visible in the sky at the same time. It proves his earlier depressing quote wrong. They can exist together. That is her answer.
