Lin Yusen and Nie Xiguang decide to kill some time at an arcade. They play a racing game. Lin Yusen absolutely destroys the competition. Two hundred coins aren't enough for him. He is clearly enjoying the win a little too much.

They move on to a movie theater. While buying tickets, a couple next to them assumes they are dating. Lin Yusen doesn't correct them. He actually leans into it. Nie Xiguang shuts that down immediately. She tells him not to take advantage of the situation.

The movie starts. Nie Xiguang lasts about five minutes before she passes out. Her head bobs around until it lands squarely on Lin Yusen’s shoulder. He doesn't mind one bit. He watches her sleep and thinks about their history together. You can see the affection in his eyes. It is a sweet moment. She sleeps through the entire film and only wakes up when someone trips over her while leaving.

The Age Gap That Wasn't

They grab dinner at a place with a view. Nie Xiguang gets curious. She starts doing the math on his life. He has a PhD. He was a neurosurgeon. She assumes he must be middle-aged. He looks young, but his resume says otherwise.

Lin Yusen corrects her fast. He is twenty-eight. He just got his degrees early. He asks why she is suddenly so interested in his personal stats. She gets shy and deflects. She says she will just ask Dr. Fang next time.

The conversation shifts to the wedding the next day. Lin Yusen offers to drive her. Nie Xiguang has a request. She wants him to dress up. She wants him to play the role of the handsome boyfriend. She jokes that he is getting a good deal since she is so pretty.

Late Night Logistics and Lonely Exes

They talk about breakfast habits. Lin Yusen likes soy milk. Nie Xiguang prefers milk and bread. He says he can change his habits. He is really trying to accommodate her. They head out to the car. He rented a luxury vehicle just to fit the "handsome boyfriend" role perfectly.

They arrive at the venue. They run into her roommates and Zhuang Xu. Lao Da gives them a look. She wishes Nie Xiguang happiness. It feels genuine.

Shutting Down the Haters

They sit at a table with old classmates. Nie Xiguang tells Lin Yusen to keep their fake backstory low-key.

Ye Rong sits nearby. She works at Shengyuan now. She knows who Lin Yusen is. She tries to embarrass Nie Xiguang. She asks why they are in Suzhou instead of Shanghai. She implies Nie Xiguang isn't capable enough for the big city.

Nie Xiguang doesn't flinch. She owns it. she says she doesn't care about "opportunities." Her family provides a platform. She doesn't need to struggle. She even offers to help Ye Rong if she has trouble at work. It is a total power move. Ye Rong shuts up. Lin Yusen loves it. He sees she is just standing up for herself.

The ceremony ends. Zhuang Xu sits next to Nie Xiguang. People talk about his promotion and his salary bump. He plays it cool. Then someone asks Lin Yusen about his background. He mentions his jump from medicine to business. It impresses everyone. Nie Xiguang calls him a talent. She feels a bit awkward after the praise, so she serves him some soup to break the tension.
