The "Hired Coach" Charade

The episode kicks off with Nie Xiguang and Jiang Rui freezing in their room. They are dreading the next day. Teaching three older relatives with zero skiing experience sounds like a nightmare. Jiang Rui wants to hire help.

Later, Xiguang checks her phone. Lin Yusen sends a photo of the view outside. It matches her view exactly. She runs outside. Yusen is standing in the snow. He even made a little snowman for her. He found her location because she posted a photo earlier.

Jiang Rui follows Xiguang out. She spots Yusen and demands answers. Xiguang panics. She lies and says he is a ski coach she just hired. Yusen plays along. Jiang Rui buys it, but barely. The chemistry and the snowman gift are suspicious for a "new hire."

Slopes and Ex-Boyfriends

The next morning, the lie gets complicated. Yusen and another instructor, Xiao Hu, are waiting. Xiguang regrets bringing Yusen into this mess without a plan. Her aunt thinks Xiao Hu brought Yusen. Xiguang has to lie again. She claims she found him online as a part-timer.

They split up. Yusen teaches Xiguang. Xiao Hu gets stuck with the three elders. The older folks learn two moves and immediately stop to take photos. Jiang Rui feels useless and goes off to ski alone.

Xiguang is actually doing well. She waits by the lift while Yusen checks the slope. Then, trouble arrives. Zhuang Xu, Justin, and Kris get off the lift. Justin points Xiguang out. Zhuang Xu stays silent. Xiguang tries to slide away to avoid the awkwardness. She panics and loses her balance. She slides right into Yusen’s arms. Kris looks jealous. Zhuang Xu just turns and walks away.

The Cover is Blown

Yusen and Xiguang spend the day on the beginner slopes. He takes photos of her. They go to dinner with her family. The interrogation begins. Her aunt notices Yusen doesn't have a local accent. He admits he is from Shanghai and works in Suzhou. Xiguang interrupts before he says too much.

Then, Yusen’s mom, Sheng Weiai, walks by. She sees her son in the window. She comes in and pretends to be a student. Yusen gives up. He introduces her as family. Xiguang’s mom, Jiang Yun, recognizes Sheng Weiai. The gig is up.

Back in the room, the family corners Xiguang. She confesses. Yusen isn't a coach. He runs Shuangyuan and is her boss. Her uncle, Jiang Ping, likes the guy. But he worries about the complex Lin family dynamics.

Old Wounds

Sheng Weiai is thrilled with Xiguang. She sees her son settling down. This prompts her to open up about the past. She tells Yusen why she has been estranged from her father, Sheng Xianmin, for so long.

Years ago, she chased Yusen’s dad. He was poor, she was rich. Her family opposed it. They married anyway and were happy. But her husband was too competent. Her brothers looked bad in comparison. They conspired to kick him out of the company. Her father allowed it.

They sent him to a remote area. He stayed there for three years and eventually died away from home. It became her biggest regret. She moved to Switzerland to get away from her toxic family. Yusen finally understands his mother's pain.
